Matt's POV•
"Meghan? Meghan?! What the hell, Meg are you there?!" I yelled into the phone. My voice felt as if it was all choked up, but there was no way in hell I was gonna start crying.
"Hellooo?" I dragged out. I still didn't get back a response.
Realizing that it wasn't going to help just waiting for her to say something, I ended the call and quickly scrolled down to Bridgid's phone number. I didn't waste anytime before immediately calling her cell. The speaker on my phone rang a few times before she picked up. Yasss!
"Hello?" a groggy voice sounded through the speaker.
"Bridgid!" I just about yelled. "I need you girls to chec-"
"Matt? Is that you? Sorry I didn't check the name before answering." She interrupted.
"Yes, yes it's me. Listen you girls need to get up and go check on Meghan! I was on the phone with her but she cut off mid-sentence." I explained.
"Matt, oh my gosh slow down! I can't understand a single word your saying." She complained.
"Just, go downstairs and check on Meghan! I was talking on the phone and the line went blank." I told her slowly.
"Oh! Why didn't you just say so?" She asked sarcastically. I heard shuffling before Bridgid telling Katie and Jadyn to get up. They resisted her demand before finally standing up.
"Ok Matt we're going now. Where was she when she last talked?" She asked as they walked out of the room.
"Going up the stairs." I said, simple enough for them to understand.
They didn't reply but I could hear them walking down the staircase.
"Matt I don't see her but mayb- Meghan!" Bridgid shouted hurting my eardrums. "Matt I found her."
"Good." I sighed in relief. I just noticed I was holding my breath the entire time.
"Meghan, c'mon upstairs now." Bridgid told her sternly. "What's wrong?" She asked. 'Oh god, now what?' I thought. Bridgid put me on speakerphone so I could hear.
"Shhhh!" Meghan hissed. She was silent and I could tell she was trying to listen to something.
"What?" Katie asked irritated. "Wait a second, is that my parents' record downstairs on?" She asked annoyed.
"Yeah! It came on by itself." Meghan replied.
"Damn record player, always pulling tricks." Katie sighed as her footsteps faded down the stairs. I'm guessing she was heading to turn it off.
"What do you mean, tricks?" Jadyn asked her curiously.
"It's been playing by itself lately. I don't know why but I think the wire has a short in it. When the air conditioning turns on, it pushes them together, activating the sound to play." She explained tiredly while yawning in between sentences.
"Oohhh." We all responded in unison.
"So that's what it was! Haha, oops?" Meghan said shyly. She was obviously embarrassed by the situation.
"Ok well I'm going to bed now so I'll meet you all back upstairs." Katie spoke. With that, I heard her jogging up the steps.
"Sorry for worrying you Matt! Please don't be mad..." Meghan trailed off into the phone. I could never be mad at her no matter what.
"I'm not mad Meghan. I'm just glad your ok." I said smiling. I looked at the clock on my bedside before realizing the time. "I better get going and get some rest. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow." I yawned while stretching out on my back across the bed.
"Ok, bye Matt!" They all said before hanging up the phone.
The amount of relief running through my body right now is extraordinary. Thank the Lordy Jesuses that my bae is all good.
