AN: This is the result of a prompt I found on Tumblr; Imagine Person A trying to get Person B to go on a date with them using cringe worthy pickup lines.

Jack gave Katherine an exasperated look. Though, of course, she didn't notice. She was too busy staring at her typewriter. Jack had been sitting on her couch for an hour now, and she hadn't looked away from her article once. He got his hopes up when she groaned and and tore the paper out of the typewriter, crumpling it and throwing it on the floor. He thought that meant she was going to take a break, and get her focus back. He was wrong. Instead she just placed another paper in and started typing again. It was at this point that Jack realized she was never going to get out of this apartment until she finished the article. Unless she was interrupted, which would annoy her to no end. But, after all, what else were boyfriends for?

"Hey Kath." Jack called out, walking up to her desk. Katherine looked up at him for a brief moment before returning to her writing.

"Oh, hi Jack. I didn't see you come in." She replied distantly, already losing her focus on him. He shook his head.
"What? Kath, I've been here the whole..." he trailed off when he noticed she wasn't listening. "You know what, never mind. Listen, I got a question."

"Can't it wait? I'm kind of busy."

"Gee, really, I didn't notice." Jack muttered to himself before continuing, "No, it can't wait. I was just wondering... do you know CPR?"

"No..."

"Oh." There was a moment of silence, (to Jack, it seemed very long), before Katherine actually asked a follow up question.

"Why?"

"Oh, ya know, I was just hoping you did, because you take my breath away." He replied with a smirk.

"I don't, I'm sorry. You should probably try to find someone who does." Katherine's voice had gotten very quiet, and it was obvious she didn't have a clue what Jack had just said. He rolled his eyes.

"Uh huh, yeah maybe I will. But first, I wanted to know if it hurt when you fell from heaven?"

"Jack, I'm trying to work. Can't all this wait until I'm done?"

"Nah, I'd rather not wait that long. Plus, the voices in my head told me to come talk to you." That got a small smile out of her. Then she noticed she had messed up a sentence while Jack was distracting her, and frowned again.

"You made me mess up." She replaced it with a fresh page and started working again.

"Sorry I guess I was distracted by the beautiful stars shining in your eyes. Did Pulitzer steal them out of the sky and put em there? Cause if not, I dunno how they got there." Jack was thoroughly enjoying himself, especially since he knew that Katherine was thoroughly annoyed. So he was mildly surprised when she sighed and stood up, looking at him.

"What do you want, Jack?"

"Well, are you free tonight, or is it gonna cost me?"

"You are so cheesy!" she rolled her eyes but she was smiling.

"Is that a yes? You'll let me take you out?"

"Well, staring at my typewriter and making up a bunch of stupid sentences isn't helping me any... but I was thinking we could stay here, instead." She said pointedly.

"What – " Jack started, but was cut off as Katherine pulled him toward her and kissed him. "Oh, yeah. We can definitely stay here." He grabbed her by the waist and they kissed again, more fiercely this time. She tangled her fingers in his hair as he pressed her up against the wall. They pulled away for a moment, breathless, and they were about to lean in again when there was a knock on the door.

"Katherine?" came Pulitzer's voice from the other side of the door. He opened the door and Katherine immediately pushed Jack away, causing him to fall onto the floor.

"Yes, Father?" she looked at him innocently. He regarded her suspiciously.

"I heard that you were working on an important article and thought I'd stop by and see how it was going... why is Jack Kelly on the floor?" Jack quickly stood up.

"Uh, well, you know me, always fallin over." He laughed nervously, trying not to cause anymore suspicion. He was open his mouth to say something else but Katherine beat him to it. She knew he said stupid things when he got flustered.

"You're right, I do have a big article, but I need to clear my head, so Jack was about to take me out on a date."

"I was?" Jack was confused until he saw the look his girlfriend was giving him. "I mean, uh, yeah. We were about to leave."

"...Very well." Pulitzer turned and left, obviously not convinced of their story, but not wanting to get into it.

"So, how about that date, Miss Pulitzer?" Jack asked once he was gone.

"Promise never to call me by that name again and I'll go wherever you want."

"Deal." He grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the apartment, excited to finally get his date.
