AN: I'm finally getting back to my requests! This one was requested by The_Dreaming_Turtle. Hope you enjoy it! (also a PSA: Crutchie would be an amazing children's book author and we all know it).

Katherine Plumber was bored with her job. She had wanted to be a reporter, ever since she was seven years old and obsessed with Nellie Bly. But now, here she was, a reporter, and bored out of her mind. The longer it went on, the more she hated her job. Because this wasn't what she wanted. She didn't want to go to comedy clubs and review their always horrible improv show. She didn't want to watch Shakespeare in Central Park and try to review it was though she had any idea what was going on. Hell, a week ago, she had to sit through some live puppet show for children at a local convention center - and that had been among some of the better things she's had to watch.

So, now, on occasions like this one, when her editor called her into his office, she didn't bother to get hopeful anymore. It was most likely just to tell her that her work was below the paper's standards, and she needed to do better. She's given up on trying to get an actual reporting job.

"How would you like to try your hand at an interview, Ms. Plumber?"

Katherine stared at her editor for a moment. "I... are you being serious?"

The man nodded. "I have a job I think you'd be well suited for. There's this new children's book illustrator, Jack Kelly. He's already grown quite well know in the publishing industry, which is rare for any illustrator to achieve, much less a new up-and-comer like him. He's agreed to let The Sun interview him, and I want you to be the one to do it."

This didn't make any sense in Katherine's mind, but she didn't want to ask any questions. "Of course sir, I'd be happy to do it."

Her editor smiled. She wondered if it was fake. "Wonderful. I'll have the details on your desk by tomorrow, but we aren't planning to run it for a few weeks, so you have plenty of time." He handed her a business card. "Here's his number, so you can contact him and find a place to meet up - I might suggest a nice coffee shop."

Katherine nodded, taking the card. "Thank you sir, I won't let you down." She promised him before leaving the office, resisting the urge to start squealing and jumping up and down like a little girl - that could wait until she got home.

Once she'd made it back to her apartment (after a satisfactory amount of squealing and jumping, of course), she decided to go ahead and contact this Jack Kelly. The sooner this article was published, the better. She pulled out his card and her cell phone, dialing the number that was printed on the card. He picked up fairly quickly.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Kelly?"

"That's me, who's this?"

"My name is Katherine Plumber from The New York Sun, I'm going to be the one conducting the interview."

"The...? Ohh, yeah, I remember. How're you?"

Katherine grinned. He obviously didn't think too much of the 'proper' way of doing things, which would make this process more enjoyable for the both of them. "I'm fine, thanks. I'm calling to set up a time and place for our interview. Do you have any thoughts, preferences?"

"Nah, I'm pretty flexible on time. As for a place, you wanna just come to my apartment? I'm new at this, don't wanna be too unprofessional, but I don't want this to be too... structured, y'know?"

"I completely understand. How about I check my schedule, see when I have free, and I'll call you back then?"

"Sounds great."
