AN: Heyyy so updates have been kind of slow lately and I apologize, but I have free time again, so here's this and I should be updating my other story soon, alright enjoy!

"Hey, Jack?" Katherine broke the comfortable silence as she and Jack sat on her couch together.

"Yeah?"

"I'm actually going somewhere tomorrow evening, so is it alright for you if we meet for lunch the next day instead?"

"Yeah, of course, you don't even gotta ask. So where're you going?" Katherine hesitated.

"There's this protest that some girls I know organized and -" She was immediately cut off as Jack suddenly tensed, staring at her.

"No, no, no, Ace, I ain't letting you go to any protest."

"It's nothing dangerous, just a peaceful protest in front of town hall. Jack, women deserve to have the same rights as everyone else!"

"I agree with you, it's a fine cause, but you gotta trust me on this, there's no such thing as a peaceful protest, it's gonna get dangerous."

"How?" Katherine scoffed. "I know everyone in charge personally, they'd never let it get out of hand."

"But if the cops get involved..."

"The police won't come after us, and even if they did, they wouldn't hurt us. That's the beauty of this, they're still against harming women.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that; they'll do anything to keep the peace." Jack's constant relentlessness was causing Katherine's frustration to grow.

"Really, Jack? The chances of anything happening are so small, why are you so against this?"

"I ain't against it, I just -"

"Or is it that you're against the cause, and you don't want me to know about it?"

"What? Kath - "

"Jack Kelly, you're not a sexist are you? And I want you to give me a straight answer." Of course, Katherine knew without a doubt that Jack was not a sexist, but he was becoming flustered, and that was her plan. She'd done this with him before, he'd become upset that she 'thought badly of him', which would cause him to feel guilty for no real reason. This made it much easier to get him to agree to things.

"I am not! I'm just... you know what, you're right. I'm sorry." Katherine smirked. It worked every time.

"So...?"

"So, you can go. But I'm coming with you."

"What? Why would you want to come?"

"Just in case." Jack shrugged. "And... to prove to you that I ain't sexist." He added quietly, almost to the point that Katherine didn't hear him. She chuckled.

"I'm sure you're not sexist, Jack. But I appreciate it. Of course you can come." She kissed his cheek, and he softened.

"Good. But we're still on for lunch the next day, too." Katherine smiled to herself at that, he was always finding ways to spend as much time with her as possible.

"Sure."

oOo

Katherine smiled as they walked up to the protest the next night. She knew Jack hated crowds, that he sometimes felt too crowded, but she couldn't relate. She loved being around large masses of people, she always felt like she could feel the energy of them all. She looked over at Jack and she could tell he was scanning everyone in the crowd, trying to make sure there was nothing dangerous. She rolled her eyes as he grabbed her hand protectively. She really did appreciate the effort he put into making sure she stayed safe, but in her opinion he sometimes overreacted.
