Before I go on, the title is not what you think it is! I know how some of you guys think, and I just want to let you know that this is not in that context. But carry on!

Requested by flanneledmikey. "Can you do one with soulless Sam and the reader be his six year old daughter? Sam hurts her and Dean has to protect her from him. Later when Sam gets his soul back, she is absolutely terrified of him and he has to make it up to her. My name is Makenna by the way."

I am really sorry about the wait guys. There is an authors note at the end that I would love for you guys to read. It's very important.

Streetlights reflected off of the impala window as Dean drove down the empty street. Darkness was all around him, and darkness was the only thing that he could feel within him.

Hours, just mere hours ago did Sam jump into the pit, mere hours ago Sam had sacrificed his life for the billions on the Earth.

Dean understood why he had jumped, why he has trapped himself in a cage that would only bring an eternity of pain and torture. But one thing Dean didn't understand is how Sam could leave his five year old daughter, Makenna, with no one but Dean to raise her.

With one hand on the wheel and the other holding the hand of a sleeping five year old, Dean was driving towards Lisa's. Dean hoped that the offer was still on the table, and that Lisa would also take Makenna in as well. Dean couldn't leave the sweet child with Bobby, she couldn't be around hunting.

That was Sam's last wish.

Makenna was passed out against Dean, her mind free from all the horrors and bad memories that had taken place earlier that day. She knew of the monsters that lived in the darkness, but her father made sure that she walked in the light.

As Dean pulled into Lisa's drive way and looked down at Makenna, he almost lost it. There, laying beside him, was the only thing he had left of his brother. The only thing that would get him up everyday, his niece.

Makenna stirred as Dean lifted her out of the car and into his arms. He shifted her to his hip as he walked towards Lisa's front door. This was the moment that would change their future, specially her's.

As Dean quietly knocked on the door, a few tears fell. His old life, the one with his brother would be left in the past, forgotten. There would be no more hunts, no more bad pranks, no more teasing of food choices. Only darkened memories that would bring pain for the years to come.

But when Lisa opened the door and saw Dean carrying Makenna, the girl she had briefly met a few years prior, Dean saw the concern in her eyes. He let a few more tears fall as she embraced the both of them, letting Dean know that he could stay and that his niece would be safe too.

Later that night after Dean had briefly explained the events of the day and Lisa had managed to get some food in him, Dean took Makenna up to the spare bedroom that she would be sleeping in. Not once had she woken when they entered the household, but only as she was put under the covers did she wake.

"Uncle Dean?" Makenna asked in a small, sleepy voice. "Where's Daddy?"

Dean's heart jerked in his chest and he felt the wound that was slowly healing, tear back open again.

"Well Mak," Dean said in a thick voice. "Daddy's going away for a while. He has to take care of the bad guys."

Dean watched as Makenna's face slowly crumbled and tears started to fall from her eyes.

"Daddy's not coming back, is he?" Makenna asked.

"No sweetheart," Dean said as tears fell down his face. "It's just you and me. And I'm not going anywhere."
