Inseparable

I inhaled the crisp mist. It reminded me of sitting in the snow in Colorado. Winters in Colorado, one more thing that Cruz can never do again. All the more reason to continue with the task at hand. All the more reason to go on with my life's finale.

In the distance, I could hear the familiar voices. I needed to go quicker.  But.. how? How could I put an end to my own life? To never again have this adrenaline rush, as if I were admiring danger itself.

I could hear the voices again. They were screaming my name, but I could hardly hear over the sound of my blood rushing in my ears. My heartbeat was like a bass drum.

Time for hesitation was over. It was time for the end.

I peered over the edge of the bluff, down at the icy water below. A moment passed, and I found myself diving headfirst into the river. My head hit the water, and I felt a throbbing pressure on the top of my head. Before my eyes closed and pushed me into unconsciousness, I heard in a distant, muffled voice the most powerful words in the world.

"We love you."
