•••••Grace•••••

I sat on my bed and thought. How could I have done this? We've been best friends the longest and I just turned on her. I can't let this happen, I need to see her. I jumped off my bed and told my parents I was leaving for a bit. I grabbed my car keys and parked on the side of the road. I walked up to her door, not exactly sure if I could do this.

I knocked our pattern from when we were kids, hoping she would remember it.

•••••Avalon•••••

"PHAHAHAHAHA!" I laughed at what Blakely just said.

Then I heard the pattern.

1 2 3&4 1&2 3 4- Are you there?

Why was she here?

The laughter drained from my face as quick as a blink. I stood up and walked towards the door, and opened it.

"Grace" I said, already knowing it was her knocking.

I looked into her eyes and immediately regretted treating her the way I had. Her eyes filled with sorrow, hope, and tears. She suddenly burst into tears, grabbing me in for a hug. I did the same, crying and hugging.

"I'm so sorry" She said pulling away from the hug.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for being mad at you" I apologized.

"So, anything interesting happen while I we gone?" She asked.

"Well..." How am I going to say that Blakely and I am dating? "BLAKELY!" I yelled, getting his attention.

"Yes?" He asked, walking over to the door. I grabbed him and kissed him, just a peck.

"Oh..." She said, surprised.

"Yeah..." I replied, awkwardly "Do you want to come in?" I asked her.

"Sure" She replied.

"We were eating breakfast when you came. Do you want anything to eat?" I ask politely.

"Do you have any chocolate waffles?" She asked, chucking at the memory.

"Believe it or not, yes" I said, also chuckling.

"I'm going to the restroom" She tells me.

"I'm going to go and get dressed" I say, glaring at Blakely.

When I was fully clothed, I popped her waffles in and plopped down next to Blakely, on the couch. I saw he was watching baseball.

"Uggghhhh. I don't know how you watch this. It's so boring!" I complained.

"This is awesome, babe! If he makes it home from 2nd they'll win!" He explained excitedly.

"Your so adorable when your excited. Your like a little kid in a candy store" I say, making laugh.

"Whatever. I'm not adorable. Puppies and babies are adorable" He says.

I hear the toaster oven ding and I walk in to get them. I grab the first one out and put it on the plate I had ready. I grabbed the second one, burning my hand.

"OW! Shit...taki mushrooms!" I yell.

I heard Blakely rush in, Grace jogging in, and Raquel stomping down the stairs. I grab my hand and squeeze it. I mutter 'ow' and 'ouch' over and over again. Blakely rushes over to me, me now sitting on the ground with my knees up. I moaned with pain. He grabbed my hand and grabbed my wrist and dragged me, bringing me to the bathroom.

He put some water on it, making me hiss in pain.

"Sorry, baby" He says, sympathetically.

Raquel comes in with some burn cream we had in the kitchen and gives it to Blakely. I squirts a bit on his finger and gently rubs it onto my tender skin. I bite my lip, so I won't make any sounds. He bandaged it up and brought me back to the kitchen.

"Oh, my hero!" I say, throwing my arms over him, hugging him.

"I just did what I had to" He says, playing along with me.

"Want to hear a funny story (that's actually true)?" I asked him.

"Sure" He said.

"Well, my mum was very social and knew loads of people. She went to college with Luke Bryan and knew the chef Paula Deen. Well, one day we went to her house and I wanted to go on the water slide. Mind you I was 8, when this happened. I didn't have a bathing suit, so I was okay with going in my clothes. The water slide hadn't really been used in a while, which I didn't know at the time. The water sitting inside was boiling. They turned the water on and I stuck my foot in it" I saw Grace come out of the restroom.

"I cried a lot, like a lot, a lot. I started screaming at one point and I couldn't stop screaming. It's the reason I still can't scream today. We were on our way to visit my Grammy's house, so we left then instead of later. Rae Rae face timed Grammy and gave me the phone. Grammy was the most gentle-natured person you would ever meet. She was kind and sweet. She sang to me through the phone and told me comforting things. She eventually calmed me down to just sobbing, then crying, then nothing. I was calm. I took a nap and we were suddenly there" I took a pause, getting sympathetic looks from Blakely.

"I hopped out of the car, still literally hopping, over to Grammy. She took me inside. My cousin's, Madeleine, boyfriend's, Lukas, mum (take a minute to process that) owned a pharmacy, so they got burning cream. You know the cream you used on my hand?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Same cream as then. Grammy put the cream on my leg, gently. We stayed there for a few days, since we were coming to visit anyways. Let's just say I was very well taken care of. They wrapped my foot ever time, changing it daily. At first it was nothing, then red, then bruised, swollen, and then the skin started peeling off. I had giant spots of my under skin. It was really, really gross. Eventually it got better. Then of course, I was pushed off a 20 foot bounce house. I then, twisted my ankle. That is a story for another time though. After all, I'm not an apartment, one storied" I finish.

"Well, that was a very interesting story. I don't really see how that was funny though. I don't like it when your hurt" He says.

"Let's go watch TV" I suggest.

"I don't see why not" He says shrugging

I snuggle up close to him and he puts his arm around me. I nuzzle my face into his shirt and slowly doze off into unconsciousness.
