The princess told the mermaid all the things she knew of her own world. Everything from the high mountains and castles to the people and their traditions. The mermaid listened to the princess with the eyes of a child on Christmas Eve. They had started a small fire in the cave using wood that had fallen to the bottom of the ocean. Before its use the princess had dried it off as much as possible.
"How is it under the sea" the princess asked while looking down into the pound. The mermaid looked towards the ceiling in silence. It turned towards the princess's and said "Lonely" as eyes of sorrow filled her eyes. She blinked her eyes bewildered and shook her head slowly.
"I thought that there millions of your kind all over the sea" the princess said and tiltered to the side. The mermaid gave her a weak smile and said "yes there was, but because of fishermen, our kind has lost a lot of territory and most of our sources to food as well". The princess heart became heavy and she placed her hand on top of the mermaids scaly hand. It felt warm and cold at the same time and the smell of the morning sun filled the princess nose.
"I am sorry to hear that" she said while looking at the mermaid with moist full eyes. The mermaid ran a hand through her hair and said "why are you sad, it is not your fault". She dried away the tears strolling down her cheeks and said, "even though I might not be the one that is killing your species I still feel guilty about my kind killing your kind". The mermaid shook its head and a soft smiled filled its face. A splashes could be heard and water fell onto the princess's dress.
"Come with me, I want to show you something" the mermaid said as it was swimming around the pound. The princess's looked around the cave and said, "but I can't swim and I don't know how to breath under water".
"Don't worry I will be with you all the time" the mermaid said as it reach out its hand. A fluffiness filled the princess heart as she place her hand on top of the mermaids. A splash came and the princess fell into the pound. A tickling sensation was around her feet as small fish started swimming around them.
"Hold your breath" the mermaid said and the princess felt her lungs growing twice their normal size. Her eyes were open as they approached the black hole.
