Chapter Thirty-One: The Full Time Surfer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We arrived to our hotel in London a little before eleven using Aeanne's and Jaimie's cars, with Leanne in Jaimie's car and me on Aeanne's. We were supposed to get here around nine or ten, but the stops that we made from getting food and stopping by at each other's houses to get our bags made that such an impossible thing.
Turns out, Beach London didn't exist. It was simply the London beach, but a company named Beach London bought the lot, and so came the name of Beach London. I thought it was stupid, because they literally just twisted the name of the beach, but who am I to protest? It literally is the most beautiful beach that I've known. Well, based on pictures, anyway. The only beach that I've been to is the one in Woodbury and it's always small and crowded.
"Sixty-one miles." Aeanne said and we all looked at her at the same time with confusion on our faces. She just smiled anxiously before getting her bags out of the car. "The beach is sixty-one miles away."
"So you're saying..." Leanne stood up, towering over Aeanne. "We're an hour away from the beach?"
"If we're going on a sixty miles per hour trip." Aeanne squeaked.
"Wait, I thought Beach London was just-" I began, but Aeanne immediately cut me off. Why does everybody cut me off?
"There's no Beach London." She sighed, tugging on her lip anxiously. "There is a London Beach though, but...um..the person who owns it shut it down just last night. So we'd have to drive all the way to West Wittering Beach instead if we want to go to the beach." She grabbed the remaining bags and locked the truck, handing me my backpack and the tiny handbag that contains my necessities.
"Why don't we just move to a hotel closer to West Wittering?" Jaimie shrugged, tying her bright red hair into a loose bun.
"Well, I tried to tell my dad, but-" Aeanne paused, checking her messages again to make sure. "The hotels there are full."
"Hey, guys, don't fret," I smiled assuringly, "it's good that we're at downtown London! It's not all about the beach, right? We can go shopping and visit the Big Ben and all of those other fun stuff."
"Eh, guess that works." Leanne shrugged as she grabbed her bags as well and headed into the hotel without us.
Jaimie and Aeanne just shrugged and laughed a little before handing the valet drivers their car keys and followed Leanne. I sighed heavily and shut my eyes tight when the blinding sunrays hit them, walking behind my brunette and redhead friends. By the time we got to the lobby, Leanne had already checked in and she had two room keys in her hands. The plan was that Leanne and Jaimie will share rooms and Aeanne and I will share as well. The black haired girl tossed our room key to Aeanne and she squeaked before briefly catching it, looking at me with wide eyes. Leanne just shrugged, hers and Jaimie's key dangling between her fingers before marching towards the elevators, considering the fact that our rooms were located on the third floor of the building.
As soon as we got to our floor, we headed to our rooms and left our bags, only grabbing towels and swimsuits as well as flipflops and sunscreens. The sun in England was always worst after ten o'clock in the morning and we couldn't afford getting skin cancer.
We only took Jaimie's car with us since Aeanne didn't feel like driving anymore and Leanne felt like it would be a lot easier to drive only one car on our way to the beach and back. That way, we wouldn't have to play convoy and try to follow each other. Out of all of us, Jaimie drove the fastest too, so it was safe to say that we'd get to the beach before it's too late.
