Dedication to katiecruz for her already finished book, Between You And Me. It's just awesome guys, give it a try. Moreover, I really liked it because it's not about the geek girl falling for the popular guy, in fact, it's the other way round.

Abby ---------->

[Chapter 4]

     David's is a cozy restaurant located near the sea but not too far from downtown, making it perfectly situated for everyone's reach though that's obviously if you have a car. Speaking of cars, Aiden's is awesome in a way that I'd already fallen in love with it. The seats are incredibly comfortable and soft, not to mention that it's a convertible! Call me spoiled brat but I am so asking one for my birthday.

     "So I assume you like my car?" Aiden suddenly asks smirking. I instantly blush, ashamed of my childish freak out towards the vehicle. Why the hell do I keep embarrassing myself in front of him? I nod in response, shifting uncomfortably in the leather seat. "It's fine. I also love Karen."

     I frown. "Who's Karen? Your girlfriend?"

     He laughs at my question as if it was incredibly funny but I just furrow my brows deeper. Then, he stops the car as the traffic light is red and turns his head to look at me, his eyes showing amusement. "No." He says. "Karen's my car." Oh. His car. Karen is the car.

     I blush at my mistake and lower my head to avoid his piercing eyes. "Do you have a girlfriend?" I blurt out without thinking, wishing to change the subject. However, once I let the words out I instantly regret having said them. Damn it, dangerous field Abby!

     His easy smirk quickly disappears, his face instantly turning serious. "No." He simply says, looking distant. That caughts my attention and even though I know I should probably stop and leave the topic, I can't help but ask, "Why?"

     "You are aware that asking why instead of how come or something like that is the same as assuming I could have whoever I wanted but I didn't want anyone right? So OK, I know i'm amazing and incredibly hot but thanks for the compliment." He says, his cocky self returning.

     "Annoying." I say, though there's a little smile forming in the corners of my mouth.

     "Annoyingly hot, you must mean." I roll my eyes as we burst out laughing.

     "Now seriously, 'how come' you haven't got a girlfriend Mr.Cocky?"

     "I used to date Natalie, but we split up months ago." He shrugs, making it look as if it was nothing but I can see through his act. His tense shoulders and the hurt in his face.

     Before I can ask him why they broke up, Aiden cuts me off. "We're arrived." He announces.

     Great, another meal with our dating parents. I think.

     "So tell me Abby, someone as beautiful as you are definitely has a boyfriend." The dinner went perfectly fine up until now, with no uncomfortable silent moments and no grumpy Aiden this time, but all the atmosphere becomes tense as soon as Peyton lets those words out. Dad looks at me warily, obviously concerned about the Landon issue while Aiden and I stiffen in our seats.

     "Err, the truth is that I don't." I say uncomfortably.

     "How's that? There must be a lot of boys chasing after you."
