We are now at my house. It had taken Glimmer almost an hour and a half to choose her outfit. Then again she is a perfectionist and better at fashion than I am. I went straight to my closet and stared at the clothes hanging on the rack. Glimmer steps in behind me and says "Go back to your room and sit. Let me do my job." I did as she said. I heard her mumbling to her self as she rustles the hangers. Finally after what felt like hours she walks out of my closet and drops a pile of clothes on the bed next to me.
I gave her a quizzical look and asked "Am I suppose to wear all of that?"
She laughs and shakes her head, "No, Pearl. There are options. First we have a green, sweater, turtle neck dress with a full skirt, tan heeled booties, and black tights. Second there is the option of simple skinny jeans with an elegant blouse and knee high riding boots." She is throwing the clothes in separate piles on the floor as she describes them. "And finally we have a long sleeve crop top with a high waisted skater skirt and matching Converse. I recommend the first or second option." She whispers the last part.
I look at the three piles and contemplate each one. I am not a very big fan of dresses or skirts, but I don't hate them. I feel like the third choice would be too cold in the evening air of the cliff area, so I discard the third option. I then debate the other two options and decide to go with the second outfit because the first one might also be cold. "I choose outfit number two, but I want to add my tan leather jacket." She nods her head goes into the closet and comes out carrying more than just my jacket. "What is all of that?" I motion to the other objects in her hands.
She looks down and back up confused. "Accessories.?" It was a statement and a question at the same time. I roll my eyes and start to change into the party clothes. When I'm done she starts holding up different necklaces. She hangs one around my neck and puts the others away. She knows me well because she doesn't try to find any other jewelry. I look at the necklace she decided on and realize it my favorite necklace. It is simply a long chain with an oyster shell on the end. I have been to the beach a million times, but have never been swimming in the ocean. My mom and I are both scared that I will drown because of my inability to breath. My mom even convinced Glimmer's dad to never let her in the water. That is yet another thing that we bond over. Anyway, I have never been in the ocean but I have always loved the idea because of the vast freedom of the endless water. Glimmer gave me this necklace for my birthday a few years ago and I have always loved it.
