"Well you did really good for your first time. Lets practice a little one more." She smirks at me and and leans forward. Her lips are back on mine and I can't resist the pleasure it gives me. She pulls away again and says "Maybe we should wait until another time for more practice." She pulls her whole body away and walks to the driver's side of her car. As she climbs into her seat and I can't help but feel a little colder. I walk numbly to the driver's side of my car.
As I drive home I can't stop thinking about how Shelly's lips matched perfectly with mine. I have a huge smile on my face until I pull into my drive and look at the clock. Mom will not be happy with how late I'm getting home and I realize I don't know if I'm ready to tell her about my feelings for Shelly. Mostly because I'm not really sure what my feelings are.
I walk through the door cautiously. I turn around slowly after closing the door quietly. Mom is walking towards me with her arm held out and a worried expression on her face. "Oh, Oyster I'm so glad your safe. What happened to you? Where did you go? You straight passed me and out the door several hours ago without even saying a word. And your eyes were all glazed over but you looked determined. What was that all about?"
"Ummm,... Well I was out with Shelly. We met out at the cliff, and then we went to get food and almost forgot to stop talking so we could go to school tomorrow." I give her a weak smile, but as I do an image of me kissing Shelly pops in my head and a really big smile almost appears on my face before I shoo the image away. The corners of my mouth do twitch a little.
Mom gives me a quizzical look. "Is that all that happened?" I nod slowly and carefully. "Look, I can see that something is making you really happy, even though, you seem nervous about something else. I don't want to push you into rebellion, but please know that if something makes you happy I would like to know so that I can be happy for you."
"Okay, when I figure it all out for myself I'll talk to you about it but until then can I please have a little space."
I start walking upstairs and I hear Mom call after me "I love you no matter what, okay?" I choose not to respond and walk into my room closing the door. I walk to the side of the bed closest to the window and collapse onto it. My smile returns as I stare at the ceiling and think about the intimate exchange between myself and my savior. It doesn't take that long for me to drift off into a peaceful sleep with a smile on my face. My dreams return me to swimming in the sea but this time Shelly is swimming by my side holding my hand.
