After class Macey walks out of the classroom next to me and I smile at her as we part ways. I smile as I see Shelly and Glimmer talking by my locker when I walk up. "Hey Seashell." I smile and open my locker. After gathering my things the three of us head to my car.
Glimmer climbs in the car as Shelly grabs my wrist and spins me around to face her. "Schools out and pretty much everyone is already gone. Can I please have a real kiss?" She is whining like a little kid asking for candy.
I pull my bottom lip in as I think about it. I look around to make sure no one is looking, when I've confirmed that eyes are not on us I place my arms around her neck before saying "Absolutely." Then I press our lips together and I can feel her smile because she got her way. A few seconds later I break the kiss and lean in to her ear and whisper "See you later."
She smiles even wider when she says "You're going to love today's adventure." She unwraps her arms from my waist and I do the same with my arms from her neck. She walks away toward her car while I climb into mine.
After dropping Glimmer off at home, I head to my own. I stop in the kitchen when I see Mom sitting at the table across from a man I've never met. Mom looks up and smiles. "Oh! Hi sweetie." She stands up and walks over to me. She places her hands on my shoulder before saying "I realize now that I may have over reacted the other night. Especially in front of Shelly."
"Mom you didn't over reacted. Heck you barely even reacted." I forget the man sitting awkwardly at the table.
"I'm sorry about that, but I have thought about it and realized that if that is who you are I need to embrace that because you are my daughter and you can be whoever you want to be. Especially if that means you are happier in a relationship with a girl than you will ever be in a relationship with a guy."
"What," says the man at the table. I truly look him over this time. He is about Mom's age.
Mom cuts me off before I can make any other observations. "Oh yeah. I needed to get that off my chest before anything else." She turns to look at the man but seems indifferent about him. "Oyster this is Vince Cannon, your father."
He stands up waving his hands and closing his eyes with his eyebrows knit together in confusion. "Woah woah woah! Hold on! What were you two just talking about?"
I look at Mom she doesn't seem to have any feelings towards this man she just called my father. I've never really known how to feel about him but the way he said the question makes a small amount of rage course through me. Keeping it under control, I walk over to the man and stick out my hand for a shake. "Hello. My name is Oyster Estuary. I'm a lesbian. Mom's just accepted it. And I have to go soon to hang out with my girlfriend." His mouth hangs open and he doesn't move anything. Finally I walk around him grab a piece of cheese from the platter the two were sharing before I walked in. I walk out of the kitchen, then out of the house. While I eat the piece of cheese I sit on the front porch and watch the street in front of my house looking for Shelly's car. Luckily it pulls up before anyone can come out and start a conversation with me. I walk to the car before Shelly can come to me on the porch. Instead she walks around the front of the car and opens the passenger side door for me. I get in and we drive off.
