As I drive Glimmer and myself to school Monday morning we sit in silence with only the radio softly making noise. Glimmer looks tense and I'm sure I look tense to her. Probably because I am tense. I don't know what to do. We've told each other everything for as long as I can remember. I don't know how she would take it if I told her my first kiss was with a girl.
Pulling into a parking spot Shelly runs over to my side of the car. As I climb out I whisper "I haven't told anyone about last night." She nods and just walks beside me as we go into the school.
After going through the door Shelly grabs my arm and pulls me too the side without Glimmer seeing. "Why didn't you tell anyone? Are you embarrassed? Did you not like the kiss?" She looks worried.
My eyes widen in shock and fear. "No nothing like that. I'm just nervous about how the only people in my life that care about me will react."
"I care about you. And if you want I can help you through coming out."
"That could be nice." I nod my head slowly. Shelly takes my hand and push herself up the short distance to kiss my lips again. Before I fall into the dangerous trap of PDA with this magnificent girl I pull away.
"I thought you said you weren't embarrassed?"
"I'm not. I just don't want to get in trouble for PDA and have too come out before you can calm my nerves."
Shelly makes an "o" shape with her mouth and then says "I'll pick you up at your house after school and take you somewhere to talk." Then she walks swiftly into the hallway towards her classroom.
I watch her walk away without moving until she disappears into the crowd. Then I realize I still need to go to my class. I move quickly to my locker and gather my things. The bell rings just as I close the door. I speed walk across the school to my history class.
By the time I get there I have missed 5 minutes worth of notes. I sigh and take my seat. Mr. Ruble decides to allow my lateness just this once because I am early every other day. The guy that sits next to me leans over as I take out my supplies for class and says "Hey, I'll give you the notes you missed if you meet me outside the main entrance after school."
"Sure, thank you so much. That is very nice of you." I smile thankfully at him and then I turn my attention to the lecture at the front of the room. I place my pen on the paper and start jotting notes down while thinking about Shelly in the back of my mind.
