We stop and Shelly says "Keep your eyes closed." I shut them behind her hand as she removes it. I sit calmly in the passenger seat as I hear Shelly's door open and close. Then I hear my door open and a female body leans across me to undo my seat belt. The figure moves away as the seatbelt automatically retracts off my shoulders. A hand clasps mine and tugs gently signaling me to step out of the vehicle. I climb out and feel that the ground is slightly more squishy than I was expecting. The passenger side door closes and the hand around mine pulls me off in an unknown direction. When we stop moving I notice that this ground is even more squishy that where we started. I also notice the loud crashes that I know all to well as ocean waves on a sandy shore. The hand leaves mine just as we reach the edge of the sand. As I am realizing where we are I open my eyes and immediately shut them again, turning around. Shelly is pulling off the blouse she was wearing for the date. Shelly giggles and says "Relax. I'm wearing a swimsuit, like always. The surprise is, I want to go swimming with you." I open my eyes and turn around slowly with heat in my cheeks. Shelly's beautiful hourglass figure is silhouetted by the moon light as she stands with her hands on her hips. I smile at her and she walks over to me. The moon illuminates her more with every step she takes closer to me. She holds out her hand. I take it and she turns pulling me to the water. As soon as we wade into the shallow end of the ocean I feel the burn on my stomach and bubbles around my ankles. A second later I fall over and pull Shelly on top of me because we still have our hands clasped together. Shelly laughs and I join in. She rolls off of me and stands up. I roll over and pull myself around to aim at the open ocean. Shelly runs off and dives into the water. I pull myself to the edge of the shallows and slide into the depths. I watch as Shelly gracefully kicks her feet behind her towards the surface. She pops out of the water and I follow. Shelly brushes the water off her face into her hair. She looks around finally focusing her eyes on me. Her smile shines in the moonlight. "Did I ever tell you that you look amazing as a mermaid?" She throws her head back at the word 'amazing'.
I swim closer to her and feel the warmth in my cheeks. "Thanks," I say shyly.
Shelly decreases the distance between us and asks "How are you doing with what happened earlier?"
"Um, I'm okay. I'm just scared of what's going to happen tomorrow, but for right now I'm happy and here with you." We smile and Shelly closes the distance between us with a kiss. We fall under the surface as her hands go to my hips and my arms wrap around her neck. A few moments later she pulls away and starts to swim towards the surface. I grab her sides and pull her back down and place my lips against hers and move oxygen from my lungs to hers. I'm not sure where the confidence or idea come from but I think it has something to do with the tail. I can feel her body relax as she is supplied with air. She starts to kick her legs and I give a flip of my tail forcing us through the surface. She pulls away and says "While that is - wow! I want to actually swim and see you swim. Please." I nod, smile and turn. I flip my body into the water again so that my tail comes up and splashes through, in front of Shelly. She dives in after me and swims out into the depths.
