On the way to school Glimmer and I sing along to the songs on the radio. I notice that my voice has become a little more harmonized than the last time we sang to the radio. Glimmer is driving again because my change in appearance disoriented me. I also want to give her some driving experience. She is actually even a pretty good drive. At the very least she is better than most of the teens at school that drive.
The day goes by like normal except for the part where Glimmer and I meet up between classes to share the inhaler. Also I get a lot of stares in the hallways. By the time I had gotten the first few stares I had forgotten about my transformation, so I got confused.
At lunch things start to get interesting because shortly after I set my tray down across from Glimmer's finished tray a voice from behind me says "Hey can I sit with you guys?" Glimmer nods her head and Shelly sits next to me. "Turns out several people at the party saw me wave you guys off, and didn't seem to be okay with it. So I've become pretty unpopular very quickly. I don't even know why. What did you guys do to deserve so much dislike?" She the straw of her milk in her mouth as she looks at us for a response. She's straddled the bench for the table and place her tray between her knees.
"As far as we know, we haven't done anything to anyone. I think they have a problem with the fact that we don't breath like them and we don't do a lot of the normal things they do because of our breathing inability. Other than that I don't really think they have another reason for disliking us." I respond first.
The three of us talk about a few more topics that are mainly based on school. Glimmer leaves after a few minutes because her lunch period ends. Shelly and I both wave bye as Glimmer stands from her seat on the bench. Once Glimmer is gone Shelly turns to me and says "I'm glad she's gone because I want to offer to give you privet breathing lessons. Because of the swimming I do I have done a lot of training with breathing exercises so that I can maintain a steady breath and also hold my breath for long periods of time. I'd like to pass on some of that information to you so that eventually I can teach you how to swim." I look at her with my eyebrows raised. "Glimmer told me how you never learned to swim because of your asthma. I thought that was too sad if a story for it to continue any longer."
"Well, thanks. I think. When do you want to start?"
"How about Saturday after noon?"
"What's wrong with before noon. Got a date?" I say it with a goofy grin on my face.
"No, actually I like to take a swim before starting off the day. Then I need some time to get ready for the day. Also, I haven't been lucky enough to find the right...person to date."
"'Person'? Don't you mean 'guy'?"
She puts her hand on her chin like she's thinking. "Well, I guess it could be a guy?"
"'Could be'? I'm really confused," I say while raising one eyebrow.
"Oh, I forgot. I guess its not really public knowledge, so you wouldn't really know. Would you? I'm bi."
"Your what?" I have no idea what she means.
"I'm bi-sexual. It means I like guys and girls."
