"Stopstopstop! She's waking up," says a familiar, friendly voice as I flop around on the ground. I cough and spit a bunch of water out of my mouth. All the water is out and I keep coughing as I sit up. A little pink inhaler appears in front of my face. "Use my inhaler. Yours got damaged when you fell into the ocean." Glimmer attempts a smile, but I can tell she is really not okay. We have been best friends forever. If the situation had been flipped I would not have been able to smile at all.
I take the small breathing devices from her and add to puffs to the CPR that I assume I was given. I realize I didn't know who had given me oxygen to breath and come back to life. I turn my head quickly to see a brow haired girl with muscular features, which takes nothing away from the beauty of her body. She is using dark chocolate brown eyes to look at me. She had no judgement in those beautiful eyes. "Are you the one that pulled me out of the water?"
She nods her head slowly. "I also gave you mouth-to-mouth." She quickly adds, "Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable." Her expression becomes very nervous.
"No, that's completely fine. You saved my life. What am I going to do, sue you for giving air to live again?" I laugh slightly at the joke and she joins in, getting rid of the nervous look on her face. I turn to see that Glimmer is a little less tense but she is still concerned. "Oh! I think I might need to change my breathing evaluation for today. Its probably more like a 7 or 8." She starts laughing and stops being concerned.
Just then an ambulance pulls up and the EMTs jump out of the front. They start looking around. They see us sitting here and call over to us "Where is the girl that drowned?" We look at each other and then I raise my hand. They walk over to me and set their medical kits down as they start to kneel. One of them takes a mini flash light out of her bag while the other takes a stethoscope out of his. The male EMT says "Take a deep breath," and placed the stethoscope on the front of my wet shirt. The female EMT says "Follow the light with your eyes," and turns the flash light on and points it at my right eye and starts to move it around. "Another deep breath please." I continue to follow directions as the EMTs give me a check up. When they finish they ask "Do you have any breathing conditions miss...?"
"My name is Oyster and yes I have asthma."
"Do you have an inhaler, Oyster?"
"Yeah, but it got wet when I fell."
The male EMT says "How did you fall?" While the female EMT says "Who gave you CPR?"
"Um... Someone accidentally pushed me off the cliff," I respond to the male EMT. Then I turn to the female and say, "She gave me CPR. I don't know his name, I haven't had enough time to find out."
The girl looks up and says "My name is Shelly."
"Alright, we have all the information we need. You appear to be fine. We do recommend that you take it easy, get a lot of rest, and maintain your breathing." They start to pack up their medical bags.
"Thank you" I put my feet under me and start to stand both Glimmer and the Shelly girl give me their hands to help me up.
