I wake up to Glimmer's phone alarm at an appropriate time for school. I let her shower because I am not interested in getting wet again for a little while, even though, I'm sure the salt from the ocean is doing strange things to my skin and hair. I walk into my closet and pull out a simple outfit for the day. I put it on and exit the small room.
I pick up me brush as I stand in front of my vanity. I look up and the mirror and gasp at my reflection. My usual blonde mess is now a beautiful flow of golden curls. My skin is smooth and seems to shine slightly. My lips are a light rose color and my blue eyes twinkle. I touch my face to make sure that the reflection is actually me. I notice that my nails are a pale blue with the slightest hint of sparkle.
Looking a the stunning image I've become overnight, I take a step back. I quickly move to the door of the actual bathroom and knock. I hear the water of the shower soften, so I knock again harder. "Just a minute, Pearl?"
"No, you need to see this now!" I say urgently. She shuts off the water and takes a minute before opening the door with a towel around her body and her hair dripping wet.
She widened her eyes as she saw my new look. "How did you do that with your skin? It's glowing. It's sparkling." Her mouth hangs open when she stops talking.
"I don't know this was just my appearance when I looked in the mirror." I look at her concerned.
"You look really pretty, don't complain about it." She smiles and closes the door as returns to the confines of the bathroom.
I decide that I no longer need to brush my hair. I sit down on my bed to put on my shoes. The skin on my feet is completely smooth and my toenails are the same color as my fingernails.
Glimmer exits the bathroom and picks up my blow-dryer. She points it at her hair. When the strands are dry she pulls my brush through them. She turns and sees me waiting with a concerned look still on my face. "Quit worrying. You look incredible. Be happy!" She puts some chapstick on and searches the room with her eyes. "Where's my inhaler?"
"On my bedside table. I'll need a puff when your done." She picks the small device up and takes her puff. She then tosses the inhaler to me and walks over to my sink to get a drink of water. I take my puff and a drink from my water bottle before putting them both in my bag and walking out the door. Glimmer picks up her bag and follows me out of the room. "Bye Mom. Don't forget to call about my inhaler."
