Chapter 31
While Alix and Rayan repaired their friendship, Craig was called into the principal’s office. He sat in the seat across from the desk that the principal sat behind. And he couldn’t help but notice a familiar face in the seat next to his. It was the guy he beat up. The guy had a black eye, bruises all over, and a swollen and busted lip. “Mr. Crippen… Is there a legitimate reason why you assaulted this young man?” the principal, Mrs. Zerona, asked. “He insulted my girlfriend,” Craig answered. “That’s the wrong answer, Mr. Crippen,” she shook her head. Craig’s eyebrows scrunched together. “How the hell are you going to tell me that my answer is fucking wrong?” he thought. “What’s the right answer then, Mrs. Zerona?” he asked. “There is no reason you should’ve assaulted him,” she spoke. “There is no reason he should’ve said something about my girlfriend,” Craig side-eyed the boy next to him, giving him a spiteful look. “She’s just a girl, Mr. Crippen. I know that---.” “She’s not just a girl, Mrs. Zerona!” Craig’s voice rose. The principal sighed as the guy beside Craig muttered a few words under his breath. “Man, she gotchu whipped.” “Excuse me, Fuck Boy?” Craig jumped at the boy. “Mr. Crippen! Calm down or else I’ll have to suspend you longer than you will be,” she spoke.
Craig’s face looked as if he had a sour taste in his mouth. “I’m getting suspended?” he questioned. “Well, you can’t go around beating everybody and not pay the consequences,” she spoke as if he were supposed to know. Craig sighed, slouching in his seat. The principal wrote a few things down as she spoke. “So, that’ll be three days, Mr. Crippen,” she spoke. “But, that’s the rest of the week!” Craig’s eyes widened. “Yep,” she spoke. “You can go back to the nurse’s office,” she directed the guy who was battered. “Thank you, Ma’am,” he spoke before getting up and leaving, feeling Craig’s glare burn holes in the back of his head. “As for you, Mr. Crippen… Go to all of your classes and get your homework. And once that’s done, your suspension is in effect,” she spoke. “So, you want me to leave school?” Craig questioned. “Yes, Sir. You have your own car, right?” she asked. “Yeah… this is unbelievable,” he shook his head and sighed. “Look, Craig… I know that you two are ever so in love right now, but… you’re still young and in high school. Everything doesn’t last forever,” she sympathetically spoke. Craig looked at her as if she were a psychopath. “No disrespect, Mrs. Zerona, but you don’t know jack about Alix and I. We’ve been through a lot together, and I love her with all my heart, and I tell her that every day. And she loves me too, Mrs. Zerona… Now, sure, we’re young and whatnot, but if what I feel isn’t love then what is? We already have a plan on how our lives together are going to go, and nothing’s going to change our plan,” I spoke. “Things don’t always go as planned, Mr. Crippen,” the principal shook her head. Craig took this as a challenge… He and Alix are going to show everyone who ever doubted their relationship, including their high school principal, that as long as you keep love and faith in your heart, nothing can go wrong… “Fine, Mrs. Zerona… But, you just watch Alix and I walk back in here after we graduate… She’s going to hold out her hand and show you the ring I got her, and I’m going to show you, not only the marriage license, but the wedding pictures too,” Craig spoke before standing and leaving the principal’s office.
After collecting his homework, Craig hopped into his car and drove home, noticing Rayan’s car in the driveway. “I thought he was at home, sick today,” Craig muttered to himself. He stuck his key in the lock, realizing that the door was already unlocked. Craig walked in, closing the door behind him. “Alix, I’m home!” he called. Alix came from the living room with a smile. “Hey, Baby,” she greeted him, pecking his lips. “You’re home early,” she smiled slightly. “I got suspended,” I spoke. Alix’s eyebrow rose. “How?” she asked. “Some guy was talking shit, so I had to let him know,” Craig spoke. “Craig…” she whined, looking into his eyes. “What?” he asked. “You can’t go around beating up people,” she spoke. “I know… but, he was talking about you Alix,” Craig spoke with knitted eyebrows. Alix paused, gazing into his eyes. She sighed before pulling him to her. “Thank you, Craig… Thank you,” she spoke, her fingers lost within his soft hair and her face burying itself in the crook of his neck. They rocked side to side as Craig held Alix in his arms… In the midst of their hugging, Rayan walked into the room, clearing his throat. Alix pulled away from Craig. “I thought you were at home, sick,” Craig spoke, obviously agitated at how Rayan just ruined a moment for the couple. “Nah, Man. I stopped by to talk to Alix, but---.” “Why did you have to talk to Alix so bad?” Craig asked. “He just needed someone to vent to, Craig. It’s no big deal,” Alix spoke. Craig stared at Rayan, giving him an unwelcoming look. “I-I think I should go now,” Rayan spoke, feeling awkward under Craig’s glare. “Are you sure you’ll be okay?” Alix asked. Rayan’s eyes locked with her before he looked at Craig who was clenching his jaw. “Yeah, I’m sure,” Rayan nodded before hugging Alix and leaving.
