Chapter 47
Alix.
Prom night had finally arrived, and I was beyond ready for the night to be over so I could just relax and begin getting ready for college. I got dressed in a red dress, since royal blue just reminded me of Prod. I mean, both colors remind me of him, but I always wore a royal blue dress when I was with him and we were going out... "Alix," Jacob spoke, walking into my room. "Do I look okay?" he asked while approaching me. I adjusted his collar and his tie, my eyes soon averting to his hair. "You trimmed it?" I asked about his hair. "Yeah. It makes me look more mature, right?" he smiled. It brought his facial features out... Jacob was gorgeous. "Right," I eventually answered while nodding. "You look beautiful," he spoke, looking into his eyes and caressing my cheek. I looked down to keep from blushing before clearing my throat slightly and pulling away from him. I grabbed the pin that I had for him as he opened the box that my corsage was in. I turned towards him again before pinning the red rose to his suit. I sensed his eyes on me, but I didn't look up at him. Once it was pinned, he took my hand into his. He put the corsage on my wrist before kissing the back of my hand. I felt heat rising to my cheeks as he gazed into my eyes. "Tonight's going to be the most fun I've had all school year," he spoke. "Same here," I smiled slightly. He touched my chin, tilting my head back slightly. "Your lips are so red," he smiled slightly. "It's called lip stick," I told him. "Does it stain?" he inquired. "I don't know, " I replied, reaching toward my dresser for the lipstick so I could have a legit answer for his question. He took my hand into his. "No, let's figure out the answer another way," he smirked. I blushed as his lips began to come close to mine... I'm still shy when it comes to boys. The only boy I've ever kissed was Craig, so I don't even know if I'll be even up to kiss Jacob... The doorbell rang. I pulled away from Jacob and went downstairs. I opened the door to see Rayan and Zendaya. "Hey!" I hugged them both. "Hey, Alix," they both smiled. "Are you ready? We've got the limo," Zendaya pointed behind them. "We'll be out in just a minute," I told them before turning to go upstairs. I ended up bumping into Jacob. "I've got your stuff," he told me, holding up my heels and my purse. "Thanks," I smiled slightly. "Well, let's go," he smiled once I put on my heels...
We got into the limo, where Chres and Imani were. "Imani!" I smiled while hugging her. "Hey!" she cheered. "How are you? How are the babies?" I asked as Jacob sat close to me. "I'm fine. They're fine," she answered. "Good," I nodded with a smile. "Tonight's going to be the bomb," Rayan smiled. "Yeah," Chres nodded. "Come on. Everybody get a glass," Rayan spoke, holding up what looked like a champagne bottle. "Oh, Rayan. I don't drink anym--." "It's apple cider, Imani. I gotchu," he nudged her with his elbow as we all got a champagne glass. Once our glasses were filled, we raised them. "A toast to our hard times, fond memories, and bright future all together... To the rich kids," Rayan spoke. "To the rich kids," we all repeated before drinking our ciders... Once we arrived to the hotel, we all went our seperate ways. Chres and Imani hit the dance floor, and Zendaya and Ray went toward the food. Jacob and I just awkwardly stood next to each other. "Do you want to dance?" he asked. "I don't know," I skeptically shook my head while rubbing my arm, trying to warm myself from the cool atmosphere. "Come on," he took my hand into his and led me to the dance floor. He unbuttoned his blazer before draping it onto my shoulders. I slipped my arms through the sleeves as he smiled slightly at me. He pulled me close-- not too close-- as we danced, my hands on his shoulders and his hands on my hips. I looked up into his eyes and just stared into them... He stared back, a small smile plastered onto his face. "Jacob?" I spoke. He brought his face closer to mine so he could hear. "I want to talk... Can we go somewhere quieter?" I asked. "Sure," he nodded. He took my hand into his and led me through the crowd, and we were soon stopped by the other Jacob, J.L. "Yo, what's up, Jake?" he greeted Jacob. "What's up, Jay?" he smiled slightly. I always thought it was weird when the two Jacobs spoke to each other. I mean, you're talking to someone with the same name as you! "Hey, Alix," he smiled at me. He hugged me tight. "Hey, Jacob," I smiled. "How are you?" he asked. "I'm doing well," I answered. "Well, you look great as usual," he touched my chin. "Thanks," I simply replied. "Have a good night, you crazy kids," he spoke while handshaking Jacob. "You too," we both responded as he hugged me and kissed my forehead...
It's almost unfortunate how J.L isn't or wasn't apart of our clique, but then again, I wouldn't want him getting caught up in what we do. He's a good kid, and I would've considered dating him if I wasn't with Craig and if I didn't have the whole suicidal thing going for me...
Jacob and I went into the hall, in a secluded area. "What did you want to talk about?" he asked. "I just want to let you know that I like you too," I replied. "That's it?" he asked. "Yeah," I nodded. "Well, thanks for letting me know. I was becoming really confused," he smiled. I laughed nervously as he approached me slowly. He pulled me close as his lips became close to mine. "J-Jacob. Wait... I'm just nervous. Okay?" I spoke. "It's not like we're fucking or anything," he spoke, trying to kiss me again. "No, Jacob.. It's just that.. the only other guy I've ever kissed was Craig," I informed. "Really?" he inquired, his eyebrows furrowing. I nodded. "Wow... I'm sorry for coming on the way I did. I'm sorry," he seemed a bit jittery. "It's fine.. It's fine. Just take it slow, okay?" I spoke softly as he gazed into my eyes. He nodded. He caressed my cheek, his other arm wrapped around my waist. He eventually kissed me, the rhythm of our lips beginning to move slowly... His lips were just as soft as they looked. And, he kissed me just as passionately as he would Justine. "Ayo!" we heard a voice call. Our lips tore away from each other as we looked at where the voice was coming from. "We've been looking everywhere for you guys," Chresanto smiled. "Come on. They're about to announce Prom king and queen," he motioned us to follow him. We did just that as the drum roll began.
We stood next to Rayan and the rest of the clique just as the name of the Prom King slowly rolled off the tongue of the speaker. "And, your prom king is... Chresanto August." We clapped and cheered for him just as everyone else did. We all expected Chres to win. He was well rounded. The whole school knew him. He was the quarterback of the football team. He was in student council (not like he really attended the meetings, but he always seemed to attend the events). He was the embodiment of school spirit, especially since Imani and him labeled themselves as an item. He went up on stage, accepted his crown and sash with a wide grin on his face. He eventually stepped back, leaving a spot for the queen to stand. "And now... for your prom queen..." I simply stood next to Jacob, my undivided attention on the buffet table. "I better get to that table before Chres does. That boy would eat a house in its entirety, if you gave him the chance and if he was hungry enough," I thought.
"Alix Lapri." My head snapped in the direction of the stage, looking at the speaker like she was crazy. "Alix! They called your name! Go!" Imani smiled and patted my back. I slowly made my way to the stage, people smiling and clapping as I did so. I slowly made it on stage, seeing Chresanto grinning at me. It all seemed like a dream... like it was too good to be true. I looked up, making sure there weren't any buckets of pig blood waiting to be drenched all over me. I didn't see anything up there somehow. I took my place next to Chresanto as they crowned me and gave me a sash and a bouquet of roses. "Speech!" I could hear Imani scream from the back of the room. I smiled and giggled slightly at her. "Go on, Alix. Say what you gotta say," Chresanto whispered encouragingly. I eventually stepped up to the microphone. "I would just like to say that... These last four years of my life have been the best and worst years of my life... Best because I've met my best friends," I spoke, feeling my hand being taken into another's. I looked back and over to see Chresanto with a small, supportive smile. "And, worst because I also found out that the world is cruel, no matter where you're from or how much money your parents make.. The world isn't a nice place. Everything isn't infinite money and poptarts," I spoke, causing a few chuckles and giggles to spew from people in the crowd along with Chresanto... "But... Thank you... Thank you for the best and worst years of my life," I smiled.Applause filled the room as Chresanto and I took our places on the King and Queen thrones. After a while, we had to make our way to the center of the dance floor for the King and Queen dance. It was a bit awkward at first, seeing as though I didn't even respect Chresanto until a few months ago. He gave me a winning smile before pulling me closer toward him. "I am so glad that we're friends," he spoke into my ear. I smiled slightly before he kissed my forehead. After our dance, I made my way toward the buffet table. There, I saw Rayan. "Congrats," he smiled before hugging me, his arms wrapping around my waist. "Thanks," I smiled. "You deserve it, Baby girl," he patted my back. I smirked while pouring myself a drink. "Alix," a voice spoke from behind me. I turned to see Jacob with a small smile. "Congratulations," he spoke, his hand resting on the small of my back. "Thanks, Jake," I replied. "Hopefully, I can be able to dance with the queen," he spoke quietly. I set my drink down before taking Jacob's hand into mine. I pulled him onto the dancefloor with me as a slow song began to play. His hands rested on my hips as I pulled him close to me. I rested my head on his shoulder as we danced. "You don't know how much you deserve this," he spoke into my ear soothingly. I closed my eyes. "It's not a big deal... It's a bit of a suprise, but... It's not a big deal," I replied. "Everything that you've gone through... From the bullying to the cutting--." "How did you know?" I asked. "Craig told us one night after getting a bit tipsy," he answered. "Oh, yeah," I smiled slightly, recalling the first time Chresanto called me "suicidal", and Craig apologized for blabbing off about it right before kissing me for the first time... "To you getting better, and you pulling through Prod's death... You deserve this. You're stronger than you think, and I know that there were times that you wanted to give up... But, you stuck through and stayed," he spoke. I pulled away from him and looked into his eyes. "C-Can we go somewhere more private?" I spoke, my throat tight and my eyes beginning to tear up. He nodded, taking my hand into his...
We got a room. I sat at the edge of the bed as he closed the door behind us. He slowly approached me before crouching down in front of me. "Are you okay?" he asked, taking my hand into both of his. I nodded. "Are you sure?" he inquired. I nodded again. "Yeah, I'm fine... I just... I'm fine, Jacob," I spoke, looking down. He touched my chin, making me look into his eyes. Our lips gravitated toward each other. We kissed for the second time tonight. He bit my bottom lip, catching me a bit by suprise. "I'd hate to be the one ruining your red lipstick, but I just couldn't help it," he muttered. I giggled as his hands rubbed against my thighs. My hands rested on each side of his face. He began pushing my dress up as he pulled me closer toward him. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as his tongue ran against my bottom lip. My tongue greeted his as he began to hover over me and lay me back onto the bed. His hands caressed what I had of curves and made their way to my legs so he could wrap them around him. "J-Jacob," I whispered as his lips traveled to my neck. "Don't fight it... Let's do something crazy tonight," he spoke smoothly into my ear. I bit my lip, feeling heat rise to my cheeks. "I-I don't know about this, Jake," I sighed as his arms wrapped around me and began unzipping my dress. "If you don't know then we'll just stop... Do you want to stop?" he asked, pulling away from me and looking into my eyes. I sighed while closing my eyes... "I don't know what I want nowadays, Jacob," I spoke. He took my hands into his and intertwined our fingers, my wrists pinned to the bed. I looked up at him as he stared into my eyes. "Do you want me?" he asked. "What?" I asked, a bit taken back by the question. "Do you want me? Physically? Mentally? Any type of way?" he inquired. "Of course I do, Jacob," I told him. "Do you want me to be your boyfriend? Do you want me to be your friend? Do you want me to be anything to you?" he asked. "Yes, Jacob... Why wouldn't I?" I spoke, my eyebrows knitting. He stared into my eyes for a little longer before shaking his head and getting from on top of me. "You know what you want... You're just skeptical of what you want," he spoke while straightening his outfit and beginning to leave the room. "Wait, Jake... Just wait a minute," I spoke, standing and trying to catch up to him. "What, Alix?" he turned toward me. "I just want things to be perfect," I told him. "Everything can't always be perfect, Alix... The world is a place for imperfections," he told him. I ran my fingers through my hair. "Look, Jacob... I know everything isn't meant to be perfect, but... it can't hurt to try, right?" I spoke. "Alix... I don't want us to do something and you're not completely comfortable with it," he replied. "I'm comfortable... I just don't know if this will be the right thing to do," I told him. "High school is supposed to be the time of your life where you make mistakes and you have fun while doing so... It's the time to be spontaneous... These last three out of four years that I've known you, you've been the wall flower of this clique, and your time to bloom is almost over... Take a risk," he spoke, holding his hand out... I hesitated, but eventually put my hand into his. He led me back toward the bed...
I had the time of my life..
