Justine.

I made my way into the principal’s office, passing Jacob on the way. I slowly walked in to see Principal Zerona and Daniel already seated. Daniel cracked a smile, despite the fact that it might hurt to crack even the slightest smile. I took a seat next to Daniel, who took my hand into his. His thumb caressed mine as he looked into my eyes with a slight smile. “Ms. Skye, Daniel has told me that while you and Daniel were talking, Jacob approached… Tell me what happened after that,” Principal Zerona spoke. I glanced over at Daniel who had a bit of a puppy dog look on his face.

“Please, Justine… Please,” his eyes read, his hand holding mine a bit tighter. My heart dropped as Principal Zerona cleared her throat. “I need an answer, Justine,” she spoke. I took a deep breath before looking over at Daniel. I hope Jacob forgives me. “Daniel and I were talking and Jacob approached. I told Daniel to go to class before Jacob grabbed me and pulled me from Daniel. Daniel was just coming to my defense. That’s all,” I spoke. “Okay… You two can go,” she dismissed us.

Daniel and I walked out of the office while Jacob walked in, Daniel and Jacob locking glares as they passed. Once Daniel and I were in the hall, Daniel smiled and hugged me tightly. “Thank you, Justine. Thank you so much. I’m sorry for pulling you into this. I promise that it’ll never happen again. I promise,” he spoke before pulling away. “I’ll make it up to you. I’ll come by tonight---.” “You can’t come tonight,” I recalled my dinner with Jacob. “Why not?” he asked, his smile slightly decreasing.

I couldn’t help but feel bad. I never want to disappoint Daniel. I don’t want to disappoint Jacob either. I never intended to hurt anybody, but I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to choose someone. “I mean… You can’t come tonight unless you bring some movies or blankets or something,” I put on a smile. He smiled at me before pulling me close. “I’ll be there at eight, okay?” he spoke softly, his hand caressing my cheek. I nodded before he pecked my lips. I got that feeling again. That feeling where once I get a treat from Daniel, I begin to go in for the whole five course meal. His nose met mine as he bit his lip. “I’ll see you later,” he smiled. “Okay,” I whispered with a slight smile. He kissed my forehead before walking down the hall, looking back at me and winking.

Later that night, I was in my sweats and bra, awaiting Daniel’s arrival. The doorbell rang. I opened the door to see… Jacob? “What are you doing here?” I asked. “You don’t think I forgot about that note, do you?” he asked, letting himself into my house. I closed the door behind him. “You never told me you were coming,” I spoke. “Well, I’m here now,” he spoke, tucking his hands into his pockets. There was a bit of a silence as his eyes landed on my body. He looked up at me from head to toe. “You’ve been working out?” he asked. “A little,” I blushed, looking down. He licked his lips. “So… you miss me?” he asked. I looked down shyly as he slowly approached me. “You got me suspended, didn’t you?” he asked. “Yeah… I’m sorry about that, Jacob… It’s just that---.” “Don’t sweat it. Daniel and I are both getting suspended so, whatever,” Jacob shrugged, advancing closer towards me. His arm was wrapped around my waist as my back hit the door. He pushed himself onto me while looking into my eyes. His hand ran itself into my curls as his lips drew closer and closer to mine.

“The truth is… I miss you too,” he whispered. Just as our lips were about to meet, the doorbell rang again. My eyes popped open before Jacob’s hands moved onto my ass. “Ignore it,” he whispered into my ear. “No, Jacob… I have to get it. It’s Daniel,” I struggled to get his hands off of me. He groaned in irritation as I opened the door.
