They never held a funeral for criminals. Well at least that's what they told me.
Devon in their eyes had been a criminal, but for Shawn and I he had been nothing other than a father.
They didn't allow me to see the body.
And Shawn? Well I prayed that he would be doing fine.
I hadn't seen him since we had been separated, nearly a year ago.
"Cole, the meetings are happening downstairs, you coming?" One of the boys that shared a room with me asked as he flung the door open.
I glanced down at him from the top bunk I had been laying on.
Dillon, I think that was his name.
"No, thanks." I answered slowly before looking away back up to the ceiling in front of me. I had eventually grown tiered of waiting for someone to come and visit.
I heard the door close.
Three more days until I turned eighteen. I would then be sent to court.
I just hoped that Shawn would be there though, that's all I wanted from this court case. To see my best friend again.
