Marisa
We rode through the woods in the morning to head to the old recon HQ; apparently they hadn't used it in a while and now it was all old and dusty.
Auruo said they had to continue utilising the place as a hideout for Eren.

The dusty old castle appeared in the distance as we neared the destination, its grey walls and purple tiled roofs shrouded in thick trees.

Kodia was beside me smiling like crazy and humming, kind of embarrassing but that's her personality I guess.
As I observed my surroundings, I turned my head back to see Levi set a resting bitch face towards Eren.
I swiftly turned around and never looked back again.

What monstrosity.

On the other hand, while Auruo was explaining and telling Eren not to be cocky, his horse suddenly halted before a small rock and he ended up biting his own tongue. Blood sprayed everywhere and that was the end of his talk.

When we arrived, the castle appeared to be more worn out and covered with moss. Rain and erosion marking the castle walls, and the windows so dirty, to the point of being fully opaque.

We stationed the horses outside and proceeded to rest.
I saw Eren looking around nervously at the squad members while Kodia started chatting with Auruo and Petra.

On the other hand, I was being the awkward anxiety person, standing there on my own and pretending to pat my horse, however, it growled at me-could horses do that? Or made a deep sound in its throat.
"Black Flash" was its name or something. I knew it hated me as soon as I made contact with it; I could feel its eyes piercing me 24/7.
As I pretended to pat it, it kept on shooting daggers at me, so I gave up. I scanned my surroundings and noticed a dirt-blonde haired girl standing on her own, looking at the forest.

Wanting to be more social, I decided to go up to her.

I tapped on her shoulder and she turned around, striking blue eyes met mine, I was dazed for a second.
"Uh, can I help you?"
I blinked.

"H-hi! I'm the new member, I'm-"

"Marisa Schwarzarbeiten? Yeh I know you." She interrupted.

"You do?"

"Yeh, aren't you the one who got in simply got in by some bribe from your friend or something."

"I-I don't think so-"

"Of course, I know a lot of things you know."

I was speechless, she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose in exasperation.

"I'm Laurel. Now if you'll excuse me,"
She walked past me and walked off towards the castle.

Great going Marisa, you busted your chance, why are you so bad?
I gripped my hands and squeezed my eyes, then relaxed and flexed my arm. *Don't worry I can do it*, I thought.

I spotted Eren, who was still looking around and decided to go up to him.

I put a hand on his shoulder, he flinched and spun around.

His expression relieved and his shoulders no longer tensed.
"Oh hey Marisa, it's just you,"

"Hey, what you do doing?" I asked.
He shrugged, "Just...looking around. Oh, and by the way, you and Kodia didn't need to do this."

I scratched my head, "Well...it wasn't exactly my idea..."

He looked confused, "Who's was it?"

"It was-"

Before I could finish my sentence I heard Levi's voice behind me saying something about cleaning up the castle- and before I knew it, I found the whole squad in the barren walls of the castle; cloths around their faces and cleaning supplies ready.

Kodia gave me the thumbs up and went off with her job.

"Schwarzarbeiten," Levi said as we were assigned roles, "Go clean the outer walls with the others, then I'll head to the centre to clean up the dirt and grime."

I nodded and headed outside, hastily put on my gear and was suspended up the walls. I slapped my wet cloth onto the cloudy windows and brushed it up and down.
No sooner did I start washing the windows I was exhausted, it took me lots of body strength to keep supporting myself straight.

The windows were just clean enough for satisfaction. I stretched my back in an attempt to relieve it of soreness and readjusted my straps.
I looked to the side to see Levi washing the walls with no effort at all as he went up and down the sides.

Sighing, I tucked the used cloth in my belt and prepared to go down when suddenly, something else decided to help my descent-the fast way.
No sooner had I began to put away my cloth, my hook suddenly detached from the wall and I began to fall.
It was all so sudden, I didn't have any time to react, I felt the support from my hook disappear and was rocketing towards the ground, face up.

Just when I thought I'd be a grease stain in front of the castle, someone caught me by the waist and grunted in the process.
I looked up to see Levi, of all people. Shit, I'm so dead. I thought.

"Oi twat, what the fuck do you think you're doing?" We were frozen on the wall.

"Ah I'm so sorry captain! My hook suddenly detached and-Yeh I don't know..."
I tried to explain.

He made a small "tch" and we both landed onto the ground while I quickly stood onto my feet and bowed not once, but twice.

"Troublesome, try not to be a burden next time," he said.

"Yes...I'm sorry..."

"Whatever, go into the castle and help Petra clean the hallways, maybe that'd be easier for you."

I felt really guilty and bad, but he was right.

I nodded slowly and walked off while taking off my gear. As I proceeded to do so, someone walked next to me and did the same thing.

"What happened there? I thought you were hand selected to be in the elite squad?" Laurel said as she swiftly released her straps, her gear falling to the ground.

"I-I didn't know it'd happen-"

"Yeh alright,"

She left me standing there.
I felt like crying, I had screwed up everything since I joined, and maybe I shouldn't have joined in the first place. I was a burden.
Suddenly I heard a voice, "Ah, Marisa!!"

Before I knew it someone hugged me with so much force my ribs felt like they were about to break.

"I heard what happened! Are you okay?" Kodia said as she shook me so hard I nearly lost consciousness, *not really.*

"I-I'm fine...just a small incident" I replied.

She wagged her finger at me. "Dangerous, true. You got to be careful next time."

My eyes dipped down and I nodded. "Yeh,"

"But oh well! Things happen," she said cheerfully, " Be careful next time! I gotta go back and finish my duties or shorty will kill me."

And with that, she pranced off into the castle again.

Jeez, Kodia was always so happy, I wonder how.

Oh damn.
