CH28: Trost 3

Among the chaos and ruins I couldn't process anything as I scanned the surroundings of my team mates jumping from roof to roof to evade the swarm of Titans entering the area.
My gaze landed on Marisa who was running towards me, she looked like she was going to say something.
I was about to shout back to signalise when suddenly a Titan appeared in front of her and grabbed her by the leg.

Panic struck my mind.

My body wouldn't move, what am I doing?

I gotta save her!

But I couldn't, my legs and arms were trembling and my mind was blank.

I looked up again and saw her nearing the titans mouth,

I charged towards the Titan, readying to kill it before it could swallow her. I jumped off the roof and attached my hooks to the titans arm and swung up into the air before aiming at the titans neck.

Suddenly I crashed into a wall before I could react. My back made contact with the wall and I crashed onto the ground.

I struggled to get up. Another Titan had grabbed onto my hook and prevented me from killing the other Titan. I cussed and stood painfully on my feet. My eyes landed on 10 metres away from me, where I could see Marisa slip into the titans mouth.

I ran forward, but I no longer had the energy to throw my-self off the ground. Just a little more.

Just metres away from the Titan...........

My heart beat very fast in my chest, like it was going to explode. I gripped my blades and applied immense force to my trigger, I felt my self get lift off the ground in seconds.
Again, I attempted to hook onto the Titans neck, this time it worked and I successfully cut the nape. I dodged the other Titans grasp and tumbled to the ground.
As I regained my composure I quickly cut away at the dead Titans mouth.
I hoped that she didn't end up in its stomach, or it'll be too late. The Titans skin was thicker than expected and if be unable to cut away at the stomach.
Blood spurt every where as I cut away quickly, fearing the other Titans might come too fast.
My eyes landed on a human figure at the edge of the mouth.
A flush of relief came to me as I wrenched them out and quickly escaped onto a near by roof. Marisa was out cold, her face was pale but she was breathing.
I felt a warm wet liquid seep into my jacket, at first I thought it was just titan saliva, but it wasn't. The red liquid was coming from her leg.

I looked around to find Eren and the rest of his group.

But they were no where to be seen.

I immediately spotted Armin in the corner.

I ran towards him and bent down. "Armin, are you okay? Where are the others," I asked.

Armin didn't respond for a few seconds, only trembling.

"Squad 34....every one including Eren and....all of them have...died," he suddenly spoked up.

He then looked up as tears streamed out of his eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm such a weakling........" He stammered as he wiped his tears on his jacket.

Eren?

My heart sank and my throat was heavy.
I saw Marisa behind me, she was leaning on Kodia for support and her leg was bandaged up. She looked at me with a pitiful expression and shook her head,

This is....crazy...no...this can't be happening...we were supposed to survive..together.

My mind went in a bizarre behavior, I put my hands on armins shoulder and stared.

"No Armin, it's not your fault....any one would have died," I said.

I then stood up and walked in front of the remaining cadets.

"EVERY ONE! IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE TO GET TO THE HQ THEN FOLLOW ME!" I shouted pointing my sword up to the sky.

Every one looked at me for a moment. One by one they stood up and put on determined faces.

I then jumped off and proceeded to the HQ, not sure if I felt sad or angry.
