"You were wrong," Sam said quietly to Maya, clutching Fern to him.
"Sam, look what your stupid b**** did to me!" Maya wailed. "My f-ing nose is broken!"
Fern prepared to lunge again, but Sam laid a secure hand on her belly.
"I do love Fern," Sam whispered, not wanting the masses of onlookers to hear. "She's my life. And the baby is my life, too. And you never will be. Please leave my girlfriend and my child alone."
Sam quickly led Fern out of that place. Though he'd been calm and reasonable with Maya, his words had more affect on him than Fern's right hook.
They waited together in the Kiss & Ride (drop off/pick up) line as Sam texted his dad to swoop by and pick them up.
"She touched him," Fern fumed, rubbing her belly, soothing her little boy.
Sam's fingers froze on his phone. "WHAT?"
"That stupid slut laid one hand on my baby and I just had to punch her. b**** ."
Sam was almost shaking with fury. "She touches him again, this time I'M going to be doing all the punching."
Fern saw how furious they both were, how much they cared about Sam Jr (Thanks, @PUNKinPINK!)realized she and Sam were going to be the best parents the little guy was ever going to have.
