When I got back to the house, Lindsay was sitting on the sofa reading magazines from off the coffee table. Graham was no where in sight.
"Where is Graham?" I asked curiously. She looked up at me when she noticed I was in the room.
"He just went out for a run a minute ago. Sit down, I want to talk." She bounced in her seat and displayed an excitement.
"Well what do you want to talk about?"
Seeing her sitting there casually wanting to talk reminded me of the old days. I remember when we would lay on her bed and talk about our lives and what was going on in them.
Like the time she told me Chris Miller had a crush on her. She had liked him
back, but when she went to talk to him, she burped in his face. She told me it was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to her.
"Melony. I haven't seen you in like two years... And now... Now you're some Alpha. That's crazy." She said.
"Well what can I say, I was always one tough cookie." I added, showing off my muscles.
"If I can remember, you were the one who couldn't even run a mile before passing out." She cocked an eyebrow and I laughed.
"Hey, I ate a lot of pizza that day."
"Melony, I wanted to talk to you about ya know, that day you left. No one really wanted you to go. We were all forced." She got serious all of a sudden.
"What do you mean?" I asked silently, to myself mostly.
I started thinking back to that day and realized I had always been right, they didn't do it on purpose. I knew it.
"It was Connor. He ordered a meeting one day and told us to ignore you. If we didn't, we would be exiled."
I gasped and closed my eyes. Who knew Connor could be so hateful. If he didn't want me that much, he could've just said so the day we met.
"Why did he have to threaten you? Why couldn't he have just told me to leave or rejected me?" I pondered.
"I don't know Melony. I tried talking to him when we all realized you had left. Everyone was devastated. Even him. But he wouldn't talk to anyone." She said.
"I just don't get it. How could he have loved me all that time and then just reject me out of the blue. It doesn't make any sense." I groaned.
I'm the type of person who has to know everything. When and why it happened. If I miss one detail, it bothers me for a while. Eventually I get over it but, I'm very impatient and like my facts.
"It doesn't make any sense to the pack either." She added, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Why did you come here?" I suddenly asked when the questions popped up in my head.
"To see you, oh and Connor wanted to find out who Alpha Cole was. Everyone knows that you're pack is the strongest and he never got to meet you or anything. He sent me to investigate. Wonder what he would say when he found out it was-"
"No Lindsay. You can't tell him anything." I interrupted with a stern look on my face.
"Well, why not?" She whined.
"Because, first off, I never want to see him again. And second, if I do see him, I might rip his throat out. Do you know how long my pack has been planning to take over yours?" I asked.
