Alone. I felt solitude and completely alone. Graham was angry with me, I had driven my sister away literally, and although Carter was there for me, I hadn't cracked his shell yet.
He was still mysterious, but my inside voice wasn't telling me that he was dangerous. It wasn't telling me that he was the best person ever either. But none of us are that.
Even though I was in the worse state I could possibly be in, other than being rejected, I still needed to take care of my pack. It was my priority.
I headed over to city hall, a large red
brick building with a black roof. It had a few windows here and there, but it wasn't anything special compared to the grand pack house.
I walked past of pair of little ones running around chasing each other. The little girl kept pushing her blonde locks out of her hair as the little brown headed boy chased after her growling like a wolf.
They wouldn't transform into their werewolf states until they were seven years old. Then they would be entered in school to train to become great defenders or teachers.
The kids bowed when I passed, and once I was out of their sight they waddled on past, still going at one another.
I opened the creaky, wooden door and stepped inside the dark building. It smelt musty and had a hint of old wood mixed in with the aroma.
The building was very ancient. It had been here ever since I was still a rogue.
So much had changed since then. I was innocent and scared, and now, I'm the Alpha of this pack, and I can kick some pretty serious ass.
But things had also changed from that too. I discovered I was half witch, that my dad isn't my real father, and on top of that, I lost my sister and even possibly, my best friend.
I walked down the vague hallway and opened the office room. Inside sat the book. The book I had everyone sign after I had damaged the place. They didn't know that though. They just though it was a natural disaster.
More like a supernatural disaster.
I ran my hand over the book and took a deep breath. I really didn't want to witness the damage I had caused to my pack. The pack I was supposed to protect.
I read and flipped the pages and fought back the tears that came with it.
People's homes were ruined, their family members hurt, their belongings destroyed.
I was starting to see myself more as a monster than a leader.
Maybe wolves and witches just can't mix.
I slammed the book shut, I couldn't read anymore. It hurt me too much.
I quietly slipped out of the town hall, hoping no one spotted me or the tears that threatened to escape. Carter was right, I needed to learn to control my powers. I needed more training.
I figured going back to the pack house was a bad idea. It was best to let Graham steam off on his own. So where was I supposed to go?
I remembered Carter and where he took me that one time. To the library in the tree. I would just have to remember where it was and how to get in. That could be a good place to look up some more stuff about my history, and maybe even my powers.
I decided to take the car. Didn't want to risk any humans seeing me running to their public park as a huge wolf.
I drove back to the municipal park that Connor had brought me to a few days ago. Only a few people scattered the lot, either having a day hike or chasing their kids around.
