I wiped the sweat from my brow and picked up my pace. Running in wolf form was good, but I missed the red cheeks and smelly body odors that came with running in my human form.

I had my beta, Graham, running a little farther behind me. I was always the fastest. Sometimes I would let him win in our races to make him feel better about himself, but I think he had figured it out.

The pack house came into view and I stopped admiring the little town I had helped create. It had grown so much since the first time I arrived.

Graham came up behind me and leant over, panting.

"You seriously need to slow down if I'm going to continue running with you. I don't think you're a werewolf. I think you're a werecheetah or something." He complained.

"Are there even such things?" I asked.

"No, I was only kidding Melony." He chuckled and took a seat on the grass.

I joined him and pulled my hair from my ponytail, letting it fall down my back.

"So... When are you going to find your mate?" I asked him laying down on my back. The cool dew from the grass tickled my face.

I had been pestering him about his mate for a while now. He wasn't very find of the topic and for some reason seemed to be scared of finding her. I guess my past experience scared him a little.

Ever since I had become alpha, Graham and I became closer. We spent so much time together planning and discussing important pack stuff that we couldn't not be close. He was my best friend.

"You know I'm not searching yet. If it's meant to happen, she will come to me." He huffed and punched my arm playfully.

"Don't punch me Graham. You know I will punch back, harder." I said giving him a look.

He chuckled and then scooted away from me. When I thought he would give up, he came from the side and pinned me on the ground.

I laughed from beneath him and rolled us over so I was now dominating him.

"You know I always win." I smirked, and he nodded pushing me away.

"I'm hungry." I referred to my stomach that was growling like a wild animal.

"Aren't you always?" He rolled his eyes and walked with me to the main pack house.

I smiled at passing pack members as they bowed their heads, showing their respect towards me. Sometimes I liked the affection, but then other times I found it annoying.

I rummaged through the fridge looking for something good to eat. I found some bacon and eggs and decided to make them since it was still very early in the morning.

I scrambled the eggs and lightly hummed to myself. I made enough for Graham and I since he usually always ate with me.

Once I was finished I set out the plates of food and Graham and I both dug into them.

"Does it ever feel weird being alpha?" He asked stuffing three pieces of bacon into his mouth.

"I guess it's different. After I met Connor I had expected to be Luna, never an Alpha."

I thought back to my old pack life. What would it have been like if I had stayed there? What if I was never rejected or hurt? Would I be a loving Luna with pups running around, or was this what was really meant to happen to me?
