Please don't remember me.

My hand gripped the phone. I couldn't decide if I just wanted to just call and get it over with, or wait and let it eat me from within. Maybe I could talk myself out of it. Graham would understand.

But I had already promised him something too big to take back. His mate.

But having him face his mate would also end up with me having to face my own. I didn't want him to remember my voice. If he did, I didn't know what the outcome would be.

You're doing this for Graham. I whispered to myself.

I grasped the phone tighter in my hand. I didn't want to drop it from my hands shaking. If I could start an earthquake from anger, who knew what I could arrange when my emotions swirled around while talking with Connor.

I don't think he will remember me. I reassured myself.

Why would he? It had been more than three years now. I wasn't the same little girl that had a crush on her mate. I grew up, and I was hoping that he had too.

This wasn't about us. This was about Graham.

I picked up the phone. Every Alpha that shared a neighboring pack was listed in my contacts. It was a sort of an alliance thing. If their name was in your phone, you could call anytime.

I scrolled down until I reached the name of his pack. The Thunder Pack. I bit my lip and closed my eyes. Why am I making this harder than it should be? It was just one simple phone call. Nothing more.

I pressed on the contact and tried to steady my breathing as the phone rang. Each ring was a murderous song, and I held myself back from hanging up before the lyrics became engraved in my brain.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three rings.

"Hello." His husky voice had deepened since I had last seen him. It was more mature. My stomach swirled in knots and I pushed the feelings down.

"Hi... Hi." I said clearing my voice. I didn't need to be scared. I was an Alpha too.

"Alpha Cole? From Dark Mercy pack?" He questioned and my mind shot back to the way his facial expression would be now. Scrunched up eyebrows and a hand scratching the back of his head.

"Yes. This is she." I said. I was too quiet, I needed to be louder.

"She? You're the female Alpha everyone has been crazing about?" He asked suddenly, taking interest. Of course he didn't know about me. I didn't want him to. Too late for that now.

"Yes. I made this pack a few years ago. So I guess that makes me a female Alpha." I said wanting to shorten this conversation and get to the point as in why I called him in the first place.

"How come I haven't met you yet?" He said chuckling. Why was his laughter so addicting yet so taunting. Why was he even laughing.

"We haven't come across each other. You know my Beta though, Graham. He usually does all of the meetings for me." I explained, hoping he wouldn't decide to plan some reunion.

"Of course I know Graham. Great guy." He said. I smiled. Graham was a great guy. This only motivated me to want to do this for him more.

"Yes well, I need to ask a favor of you." I urged.
