After Connor had found out that I was his mate, we rushed back to a crowd of angry and upset girls who had hoped to be the one. He quickly made an anouncement that I was going to be the new Luna. I remebered the glares and looks I had recieved from all of them.
Lindsay was upset at first, but I think she was happy for me. She told me everyday how lucky I was and how much I had deserved it.
I was dumbstruck and still didn't believe that I actually was the mate of Alpha Connor. And even though at first I didn't accept it, whenever I looked at him and saw him smiling down at me, I couldn't help but give in.
Connor and I took our relationship slow. We had different personalities and he had learned that when I didn't fall at his feet when we had first met like normal mates did. Back then I never wanted to shift or think about being a wolf, I wanted something like a human relationship.
Connor and I never mated or even marked each other, but he still loved me. Even though he had a lot of pack duties, he would try to spend all of his free time planning dates and waching movies with me. He understood that I wanted things to work out on their own.
My parents were extremely happy and excited for me. They thought it was amazing that I was going to be the future Luna one day.
But that day never came. Gradually Connor started slowly drifting away from me and tried spending his free time doing other things. Lindsay and I stopped talking and sharing things with each other. She got new friends and was rarely at home anymore. And even my parents tried to avoid me as much as possible.
I grew into a depression and spent all of my time at home. I would eat and then head back to bed and just lay there. I was lonely and it wasn't how I was supposed to feel when I had a mate downstairs in his office, chatting away with his pack friends.
I was invisible and no one saw me.
It was one day I was lying in bed and the door was thrown open. In came a very upset looking Connor and he gave me a sad look. I won't ever forget the words he said to me that day. "I reject you." He spat and closed his eyes walking away.
It almost had seemed like it hurt him. Well, it probably was since the bond was weakened. I remember getting a sick feeling and throwing up in our bathroom.
When I left the house, I could feel Connor watching me. I turned and found him peeking out from behind the hallway.
"What did I ever do to you? Just when I thought things might actually work out.. You... You changed. You're not the Alpha that you used to be. You gave up on me, on us so easily. And what else did you do? Threaten my friends and family as well. If I knew it was going to be like this, I would've never even came back with you" I stated calmly, which was surprising seeing that on the inside, there was a raging inferno.
He looked at me with pity and he turned his cheek, looking in the other direction. God, now he couldn't even stand to look at me.
I cried all the way home with all the stuff I could carry in my arms. Maybe my parents knew why everyone was acting the way they were. I stumbled through the town, picking up the few items I dropped from my grasp, which was a lot.
"Mom, dad. What's going on?" I asked and they turned their faces, going back into their own lives. Just like Connor had.
I threw my stuff on the ground and slammed my fist in the wall, creating a hole. "What the hell is going on? I want answers. Or I'm leaving." I yelled, frustrated.
