I met Sebastian in the kitchen expecting it to be only him and I was shocked by the sight I witnessed. Sebastian looked up at me and his facial expression still had a sense of shock about it as he was surrounded by Bardroy, Mey-Rin, Finny and Agni all performing some food preparation. As I began to prepare the beverages for the meal, I listened to Agni speak to Sebastian of the talents possessed by all and as apprehensive as I was about Agni I agreed with Sebastian when he told Agni that he was a man of fine character. It was rare that Sebastian would bestow a compliment such as that on a person he did not know, he was constantly surprising me. I listened as Agni explained to Sebastian about how Prince Soma had not only saved him from the punishment of death but also in essence saved his soul. Sebastian quickly snapped with a snide remark about Agni's pot boiling over, but Agni was caught up in declaring that Prince Soma was his sovereign and god. Agni continued with his declaration of wanting to make as many of Prince Soma's wishes come true as possible for all that he had done. I could understand devotion, I felt a devotion to Sebastian for all he had done but that devotion was not a blind one. Sebastian stirred the boiling pot as I passed in front of him with the tray of wine and tea, Sebastian's gaze caught mine with a devilish grin as he muttered, "The actual gods are a bunch of good-for-nothings, if you ask me."

Dinner was served and everyone enjoyed it to the fullest extent. Ciel was distracted only by finding out when all of his house guests would be leaving. Prince Soma spoke of leaving once their business was concluded. The business Prince Soma spoke of was finding a servant named Mina. He unfolded a drawing, it was not going to be very helpful in any search effort but Ciel entertained the idea when he asked Sebastian, "Sebastian, does that give you enough to find her?" Sebastian stepped away from my side and closer to examine the drawing which held more likeness to a child's drawing that a person's likeness, but i had the upmost faith in my butler. Sebastian answered, "Even I can't do much with this ... I'll try my best." After which Sebastian came back to stand next to me. His sleeve so close to my arm, both of us becoming hyper aware of our closeness as Ciel, in his strategic way, questioned for further information about Mina.

Mina had taken care of the young prince when his parents paid him no attention. According to the Prince, an English man kidnapped her and brought her to England. It crossed my mind at that point that Prince Soma did not understand what it was like to not be free. Mina was a servant and probably had little choice even as much as she cared for the young Prince she was not free. Judging by the expression worn by Sebastian that same thought was apparent. Ciel confirmed that the purpose was to get her back and the Prince replied unaware of his tone, "Yes. I'll get her back and bring her home with me, no matter what!" I had been grateful for both Sebastian and Ciel but upon hearing the tone Prince Soma used my appreciation for my new family was increased. I was not something to be owned, I was a part of something bigger. I was loved not controlled. Ciel responded with a displaced tone upsetting the unreasonable Prince. What the Prince had failed to see or acknowledge was that he was speaking to someone who had experienced loss in the truest sense of the word. I lightly grabbed onto Sebastian's coat as Ciel spoke, "The kind of trifling despair something like that could inspire? I can't understand it, and I don't care to." Ciel slapped the Prince's hand away and began to leave the room, "Some things no amount of struggling will get back. And some despair can't ever be escaped. Maybe you can't understand that, though." Ciel shut the door behind him disappearing into the darkness of the mansion leaving Prince Soma to hopefully ponder the words that he had spoken.

Sebastian and I stood secretly with intertwined fingers while it became apparent the Prince had little understanding of the gravity of Ciels words.
