The next morning at Trancy Manor ..

Shanda woke up startled as she heard her door being opened, it was Claude and in his hand he had had a bouquet of wildflowers. His devious look as he walked towards her excited her to no end. He reached the edge of the bed and ran his hand underneath the sheet searching for her skin. She teasingly moved away, he reached further in catching her foot pulling her close to him. Her feet now dangled off the bed with him standing in front of her. He smiled at her sleepy daze, "Does my lady require my assistance getting dressed today?" Shanda took her foot and began to rub his thigh, "I don't believe so Claude. I am more hoping that you are ok. I heard you working far into the night cleaning up what I assume to be the trouble Alois got himself into." Claude looked at her sincere concern and began to wonder if he could deserve this considering what he had just buried in the backyard. Shanda noticed the expression as she stood she took his face in her hands and gently kissed him. He kissed her back grasping onto her pulling her close. As he held her she spoke quietly, "Tell me about it Claude." Claude lifted her up and took her to the chair. He held her in his arms, "Well, my lady, Alois can be a very possessive child and when he does not get his way he will do things that are often not right in most people's eyes. He is violent and destructive and spoiled. He did not always have as privileged of a life as you have seen. The child has endured great personal tragedy and loss, yet I know many who have and the resulting personality is not like that of Alois. I explain this to you so you understand that you are safe, you are mine." There was a tension building in his voice that Shanda could not help but ask, "Claude what happened?" Claude paused sighing, "Alois harmed one of the servants." Shanda should have gasped or jumped but she was not surprised by this action by Alois, "Claude, I wish that I was surprised by his actions but I have surmised that he is not happy unless all attention is given to him. Even times when it is, he is not satisfied. I do not fear him and even less so because I have faith in you that you would not allow him to harm me." "Shanda, I would never allow him to harm you. I do want you to keep yourself safe and to know that as much as I have grown attached to you I will hide that in his presence. Just always know that I desire to be with you" as he pulled her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her. "I understand Claude," she responded. And Claude knew that she did, she was not saying what she did not mean, she understood and he felt lucky beyond comprehension to have her. In all her teenage and adult life she had never felt as safe as she did with him. The sun streamed in the room and Claude could hear Alois yelling for him, "Shanda I must go attend to Alois." Shanda kissed him on the cheek, "Before you go I was hoping I could do something to help you out today. I need to be busy, so is there something you'd like me to do?" He kisses her back on the cheek. "Well I would feel safer with you not being in Alois direct line of sight. How do you feel about horses?"

Claude left to attend to Alois and Shanda got dressed in clothes appropriate to what she had tasked herself to do. She has specific instructions on how to reach the stables and to be careful. She reached the stables and the horses were beautiful. She had always had an affinity for animals, animals were honest creatures. She walked through and there were 3 horses stabled there, all black stallions. They were majestic creatures. She reached her hand to the one named Necromancer and the horse nuzzled his nose in her hand looking for food. Shanda heard the noise of someone stepping towards her and she turned slowly as to not spook the horse and beside her was a lovely red headed woman, she held her hand out, "Hi, my names Peggy. And you must be Shanda." Shanda shook her hand, "Yes, that's right. I am sorry to say I did not realize you were here." She slightly laughed, "Yes, I prefer it that way. My husband and I keep ourselves distanced from the house." Shanda had a feeling she knew why, Alois. She wasn't sure if she could pursue the topic but Peggy added, "I'm sure you can gather a guess at to that reason and you would be correct, Alois is a unstable and while I'm sure he feels justified in how he acts but we stay at the behest of Claude." Shanda's eyes brightened with the mention of his name and Peggy picked up on the expression, "Yes, Claude is a fantastic butler although his origins are dark." "Yes, I am endeared to Claude for all he has done for me, his dark origins are known to me and yet despite them I have never felt as safe as I do knowing he is nearby." Peggy recognized the look of love and lust in her eyes and the words she chose, "I believe Claude feels lucky as well to have you nearby. So I see you like horses?" "Yes, I wanted to make myself useful and Claude suggested this" she began looking around again. 'Well I could certainly use your help. Necromancer seems to have taken a liking to you. Would you like to run him?" Peggy asked as she unhooked the gate leading Necromancer out to the tack room toward the saddles. Shanda spoke quietly upon her request, "I would prefer to ride bareback if that's ok." Peggy smiled, "That is perfectly fine. There is a meadow just past the tree line that would be perfect." Shanda followed her hand and saw where she was pointing and led Necromancer toward the trees.

Peggy watched this young woman whom she had just met talking to Necromancer as if they'd known each other forever walk towards the trees when he husband, David, stepped up beside her, "Is that the one Claude brought here?" "Yes, she has quite a spirit just from the little time I spent talking to her," Peggy replied. "She must, to still be here" he grimaced with distaste when thinking of Alois. Peggy turned to her husband, "We have little to worry from him as Claude has not made him known of our existence or that our daughter exists with her special gifts." "Yes, of that I am forever grateful" as he kissed his wife and pulled her close. She wrapped her arms around him and held him to her. A few moments later, their daughter, Nichole found them, "Warn me next time please" to which they all laughed and the area where Nichole stood sprouted a variety of wildflowers. Nichole reached down and gave a daisy to her mother, "What are we looking at then?" Peggy happily replied, "I believe she is the one, the one whom Claude has been looking for."
