Lady Elizabeth is Missing

That same evening at Phantomhive Manor ..

Sebastian and I were cleaning up after dinner when the phone rang. Sebastian answered in his velvety voice but his expression suddenly changed upon hearing what was being said. He looked at me and I knew something had happened. I was immediately by his side and awaiting instructions. He hung up, grabbed my hand and we walked at a steady pace towards the study where Ciel had been since Lady Elizabeth had left. We entered and Sebastian approached while I stayed close to the door waiting to see what had happened. Sebastian spoke a brief greeting but I only heard Ciel's response, “Elizabeth's disappeared?" My heart dropped as the ominous feeling had meant something and it meant something horrible. Sebastian responded, "Yes, her maid said she lost track of her when they were stuck in traffic in Islington." "Then that's where we are headed. Honestly what was she thinking?" Ciel responded. Sebastian held out a silver tray with a letter from the Queen, "First you should look at this." I moved next to Sebastian as Ciel read the letter adding his comments inbetween, "Scotland yard has been investigating a series of kidnappings. The targets are always young girls bodies have not turned up yet but they are most likely dead. The kidnapper sends a piece of the Hope diamond to each of his victims before taking them. The very diamond said to bring a curse upon whoever owns it. The gem we were recently chasing after who knew we'd hear about it again like this?" "What now my lord?" Sebastian looked at me and we knew that this was the reason for the bad feeling I had gotten. "We do what the queen has asked us, that is always our first priority my job as guardian of the underworld." Ciel responded in authority.

There was no time to waste, Lady Elizabeth was missing and the Queen’s letter dealt ominous news about the other girls who had gone missing. I felt sick and I uttered quietly as we walked towards the carriage, “We must hurry. I can feel her fear.” Sebastian looked at me worriedly as we climbed into the carriage and started off to Islington. Once I was sitting Sebastian slyly slipped his hand behind me and laid his hand against my back, his reassurance was a comfort and made me even feel less sick. I wanted to lean my head on his shoulder but given that Ciel still did not know of our relationship and now was not the time to have to explain I leaned my head against the side of the carriage.  I had just closed my eyes when Ciel asked, "Sara, are you going to be ok?" "Yes I assure my Lord I will be ok, just looking forward to finding Lady Elizabeth." I said opening my eyes to answer him. Ciel looked into my eyes knowing that I meant every word I said. Sebastian pulled me as close as possible without being questioned. It was such a comfort to be next to him so I closed my eyes and tried to focus on how we were going to find Lady Elizabeth. I fought an overwhelming urge to grab onto Sebastian again, his scent was intoxicating and my senses were on fire with each stroke of his fingers against my back. As I watched the scenery passing by from the window I remembered the night of my mother's death and the fear in my father's voice as he spoke to my mother when he thought I could not hear him, "How am I supposed to teach her if you are not here? I worry that she will lose her humanity without you to guide her." The words lose her humanity began to echo in my ears. I pulled myself away from the nights gaze looking towards Ciel and then at Sebastian who was equally looking concerned at Ciel and myself.

We had not gone very far when Sebastian had asked Ciel, "What is it?" It was then I first saw Ciel give Sebastian an order, an order to which Sebastian would complete to the highest degree. The power of words have never ceased to amaze me and that power was clearly evident as Ciel spoke, "Are you prepared? I have an order to give you." Sebastian cautiously replied, "Yes." Ciel then ordered him to question everyone that knew the victims and make up a suspect list with names and addresses also to investigate the crime scenes. He gave him three hours to complete the tasks set out to him while he attended to other matters. I wasn't sure where I fit into all of this until Sebastian spoke, "As you wish my lord, I will take Miss Sara with me as I know she will be of great assistance to the tasks set before me." Ciel looked at me concerned and having complete trust in Sebastian I took his hand and lept into the air with him leaving Ciel with Pluto. He took me into his arms like I was a feather and he began to fulfill the order Ciel had given him.
