Her Thank You Note

Later that evening I literally ran into Mey-Rin as she stumbled through the kitchen door attempted to carry just one too many plates to prepare the table for dinner. While I had almost just tested gravity myself I attempted to help the one person I knew who was clumsier than me. I had a feeling she hid behind her glasses though and her clumsiness was more an effect of the glasses than anything, "Mey-Rin let me grab a couple of these off here and help you." "Thank you so much Sara! I just want to do my best to make the Lord so happy!" "I totally understand" as we walked carefully together into the dining room. After several careful trips to the kitchen I helped Mey-Rin put the finishing touches on the table. I had gone to the kitchen to prepare Ciel's tea as Sebastian had not shown up to prepare it, which was highly unusual. After preparing his tea I walked into the dining room and we had done a marvelous job. Each plate was perfectly placed, all the silverware was shining, the centerpieces were full of blue flowers. I was standing there admiring our work when I felt him walk into the room. He strode over to stand next to me. He was close but teasingly so. His black jacket brushed just aross my arm. There was electricity in his touch. I blushed ever so slightly keenly aware of how close he was.

Mey-Rin walked back into the room and saw the pride on Sebastian's face and immediately had to leave on account of a bloody nose that she had gotten. It wasn't unusual but I still worried about her getting so many bloody noses. Sebastian didn't move an inch. I walked over to the table to straighten one napkin that didn't seem straight. As I did Sebastian said, "I know this is your doing and I thank you for helping Mey-Rin. Ciel received a letter from the queen and we have formulated a plan on which course of action he will take." I wanted to inquire more but when I looked up from straightening the napkin I knew now was not a good time. He walked over to me with his hand extended.  I took his hand and he sat me down in one of the chairs. He walked gallantly to the edge of the room where he picked up a violin, "This is your thank you note." He smiled and began playing the most beautiful melody I had ever heard. The feelings emanating from that violin brought tears to my eyes. When he had finished his melody and he had set down the violin I moved quickly to him and hugged him tightly, "Thank you Sebastian. I can tell you that that was simply one of my favorite moments in my life." He grabbed me tight around the waist and lifted me up so that our lips were hovering over each other. Just as our lips were to meet the door began to open, I feared it was Ciel. Sebastian quickly carried me to the other side of the room and caught the door to open it for Ciel. I stood positioned just as Sebastian had left me and a few seconds later I moved towards the table as Ciel was asking for something to drink.

Sebastian began to comment that he had not had the proper amount of time to prepare tea for dinner when I cut him off as I caught one of his coat tails and tugged on it slightly rolling the tea cart next to the table. He smirked and silently mouthed, "You made tea?" I mouthed, "Yes, you are welcome" with a sinister grin of my own. One of his eyebrows raised and he waited to see what Ciel would think of the tea I had prepared. I poured the tea carefully and gently into his cup. As he lifted the cup to his mouth I began to fear he would not like it. But my fear was displaced when a slight smile came across his lips, "Did you try something different with the tea, Sebastian?" "I did not, this is Sara's creation," he replied looking at me with his glowing eyes. "Well Sara I dare say this is even better than Sebastians," Ciel responded. As his words hit the air I looked over at Sebastian and hoped he understood that was not my intention. I wanted to make it clear so in response to Ciels compliment I spoke quickly and succinctly, "Sebastian has been teaching me upon my request, my Lord. He is a very effective teacher and so my success is based solely on the time and effort he has taken to teach me. He is one hell of a butler." Ciel teasingly looked at Sebastian and some unspoken words were exchanged, "Well thank you Sara. You have quite pleased me tonight. I am delighted that you have been able to acclimate to life in the Phantomhive Manor so seamlessly." I watched Ciel speak and felt great pride in his compliment and it showed. Sebastian caught my eye and he winked as he continued to serve his delectable dinner.

Dinner had gone perfectly I thought while I was standing at the sink washing dishes. I listened to Mey-Rin tell Finny, Bardroy, and Tanaka about the evening. She told them all about the table and how beautiful it looked. She got very excited and told them about the tea incident. Finny ran over to me and hugged me, "You are a part of our family. I am so happy!" Tanaka let out a, "Ho, ho, ho, ho" and we all laughed. Bardroy sat looking at the leftovers wondering if we could eat them. I wasn't about to make that call,  "I suggest you wait for Sebastian." He let out a breathe that let out a cloud of black smoke from his cigarette and walked to the other side of the kitchen which was in fact as far away from the food as one could get. One by one they got tired and I told them I would finish up cleaning. Before leaving Mey-Rin came over and thanked me for my help. I smiled and told her, "It was my pleasure. Your table was beautifully set." She smiled and stifled a yawn at which I added, "go get some rest." She left not so quietly and I started to wonder if I'd ever finish with the dishes. It hadn't helped that Bardroy thought he would be helpful by trying to speed up the cooking process with a little dynamite.  So even dishes that were not used needed to be washed. I spoke outloud to myself, "I could have swore I heard Mey-Rin bump into something." As I began to turn around I felt the presence of someone behind me.
