More waiting. More boredom. And more Lissa picking through my head. I suddenly felt bad about doing it to her, I actually felt he opening all of my feelings, it was like they were cabinets and she was just pulling the handle.

"Guardian Hathaway." My name was called over the speaker meaning Elenas operation was finished. She had been wheeled back into her room so when we walked in she was already asleep.

I sat next to her bed in the chair and hooked my hand in hers, her hand felt limp and heavy, when the doctor walked in I had some questions

"When will she wake up?" I asked.

The doctor ducked his head and closed his eyes preparing himself to tell me "I'm so sorry, but the surgery didn't quite go to plan. Elena is in a coma."

I couldn't think straight, tears rushed down my face and I let out a sob before I was consumed into darkness.

I walked into Elenas room to find Rose slumped on the floor near her bed, i shook her shoulders and healed the wound on her head. Rose didn't like me doing magic but I needed to at the moment, she could of been seriously hurt.

I suddenly had an idea, I left Rose on the floor for a minute as I knew she was in no danger and took Elenas hand in mine, I put my other hand over her and concentrated all my magic on saving her. I had done it before, I had saved Rose from the dead.

After a few minutes nothing happened, no familiar tingles, no heat rising up my arm. Nothing. Not even my magic could save Elena. A lonely tear escaped my eye as I realised she was helpless, it was all up to her tiny body to wake up.

"Lissa? What are you doing?" Roses voice was hoarse and dry

"I couldn't save her Rose." I sobbed. I so desperately wanted to save her.

"Lissa, she's in a coma. The operation didn't go as planned." I ran to Rose and held her in my arms as her body racked with sobs

"What if she never wakes up, Liss. I could lose her." I stroked her hair trying to sooth her

"Everything will be okay Rise, she'll wake up. She has to."

Rose pulled herself from my hold "I hope your right" she said before wiping her eyes and sitting at her daughters bed.
