DPOV
Today was the day Elena had been allowed to leave the infirmary, she had been given the all clear and she was spending the day with Lissa. I was surprised, really, if my daughter had just got out of hospital I would spend the entire day with her getting back into our old ways. But who was I to judge? I was a childless, 29 year old who had a barren girlfriend. I would never be in that position.
Watching young Elena was hard work, Lissa had put me in charge of her while she went into the shower. And that was when she decided she wanted to cause mischief. She stumbled around the house picking up bits and bobs and deciding she wanted to keep them. I had just caught her in time as she went to pick up an object off the carpet by the stairs. Before she fell I picked her up and carried her off in the opposite direction
"Hey!" She shouted "I was walking." Definitely Roses child! She had her attitude!
My mind suddenly flashed back to what Yeva had said to me. 'Look deeper into the child's eyes and the truth will be revealed.' How am earth did that make sense? As I thought that it something suddenly clicked. The shade of brown was off, they were a match. Impossible, it was impossible.
Eye colour was very important in the vampire world, they gave a clue as to what family you belonged to. In the Belikov family, we inherited dark, chocolate eyes. The exact same as the child's in front of me. Was it possible that Rose was telling the truth? The answer was obvious, No!
I put the child down and tried to forget about it, but for the remaining not time of my shift my eyes kept looking at Elenas, they were exactly the same as everyone in my family.
As I was walking back home the thought still lingered in my mind. "Look deeper into the child's eyes" the child who had exactly the same colour eyes as me. I don't no why I was over analysing this but it seemed like a switch had been flicked.
When I wanted into my apartment I mumbled my hello to Tasha who was making us dinner, she didn't sound impressed by my lack of excitement to see her but I didn't really care 'the truth will be revealed' could Yeva really believe Rose was telling the truth? Could I?
"-what your thinking, just concentrate on me." Tashas voice sounded soothing, like silk to my ears. I looked up and caught something in her eyes. The same look Vasilisa had when she used compulsion of people. I tried to keep away from her gaze and not make eye contact. I scanned her body for some indication that she was using compulsion, normal Moroi couldn't normally compel Dhampirs (all expect spirit users!) so if Tasha was actually trying to compel me she had to be using some sort of method to amplify her powers.
I searched her body for any thing suspicious or unusual, the only thing I could find was a necklace. My mind instantly went back to Rose when she had been given the necklace off Victor which contained a list spell. Maybe the same thing was happening again, just under different circumstances.
'Here goes nothing!' I thought.
I reached up and snapped the necklace off of Tashas neck
"Hey!" She shouted "what are you doing?" Her voice didn't sound like silk anymore and her eyes didn't have the look either. I had defiantly found the source of the compulsion.
"Stopping you from standing in the way of me getting Rose back!" I knew now why I wasn't with Rose. Tasha had been compelling me, it made sense. The reason why I couldn't remember why I had left Rose was because technically I hadn't, I had been forced to leave without realising.
The spell that Yeva had been talking about was Tashas compulsion. Never had I been so relieved to be scolded by my grandmother!
