I entered Lissas apartment without knocking, I knew Christian wasn't here yet so I wouldn't have to worry about walking into something awkward! Surprisingly Lissa was still in bed, something that was very odd considering today was the day of the new arrival. I walked into her room and woke her up

"Lissa? Why aren't you awake?" I asked. Lissa stirred in her sleep but didn't wake up, instead of trying again which I knew wouldn't help I just checked the bond to see what she had done yesterday to make her so tired. What I found was surprising, it wasn't surprising that Lissa was doing it. What was surprising was I didn't no Lissa had been up all night practicing magic. Surely I would have get it through the bond?

"Lissa!" I said loudly, not quite shouting "Liss! Wake up!" Lissa sat up looking pissed

"What!?" She said, she raised both eyebrows at me.

"Why are you still asleep, the new guardian is arriving soon." Lissas eyes opened wider

"Oh god!" She looked at her alarm clock that was sitting on her bedside table "why didn't it go off?" She said out loud, not really meaning it to anyone but herself. She hit the alarm clock and got up, frustrated. She swayed a bit as she stood up before I caught her arm as I thought she was gonna fall over.

"Lissa, what have I told you about magic! Be careful how much you use, your wearing yourself out." Lissa waved off my worriedness

"I'm fine Rose, don't worry about me." I shook my head before leaving to get her a glass of water

When I returned Lissa was still on her bed lay down, I handed her the water and she drank almost all of it.

"What was you even practicing?" I asked.

"It was supposed to be a surprise." She said "I was trying to figure a way that I could use the bond both ways, so that we could have a two sided conversation." I raised my eyebrows

"Why an earth would you want that, you really want to be inside my head?" I asked, my head was a pretty dangerous place for new comers! I could barely manage it myself.

"Rose, it's been 5 years since he left, you can't still be that broken. I'm not trying to sound mean but you need to move on. How about you give Adrian a chance? Or if you still are hurt that he left you, call him, tell him he has a daughter?" I shook my head at Lissas failed attempt at match making

"I have a daily reminder that he left me and his daughter, it's hard to forget about him Liss. I'm trying my best and calling him would only make it worse. I'm repairing myself Liss, slowly but surely." I gave Liss an encouraging smile but it only made her grimace.

"Rose, I think I need to tell you something..." Before she could say anything my phone rang. I told Lissa I would be a minute and walked into the next room to answer my phone

"Hello." I said into the phone.

"Hi Guardian Hathaway, Elena has been sick at school so I need you to come get her for us please" I gasped under my breathe, it was very rare for dhampirs to get sick but it was more common for children to get ill so it wasn't a big deal. But it still worried me because I was her mother.
