"Ward!" I cry as he walks on board on first.
We had just gotten them safely away from their mission. I was beyond relieved, adrenaline starting to drain from me.
Ward looks tired and battered. But also kind of relaxed.
I rush forward and hug him for a brief few seconds before pulling away, surprising everyone including myself.
"Hey kid." He says. "How you been?"
I sigh. "Honestly? Very stressed."
"Oh?"
I open my mouth and try to give an innocent smile. "Let's just say I was the first person here to discover there was no extraction."
Thankfully Ward doesn't make me further explain myself.

"Skye." I look up from my bunk to see Coulson leaning in.
I turn off my phone and nod at him to continue.
"I just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget about what you asked me back at the Hub."
I glance nervously at my hands.
I had said and 'asked' for a lot of things."The un-redacted file about your past." I stand up at those words, shocked. I didn't think he had the time. Or wanted to after how many rules I broke. "I found it."
I gasp and my hands cover my mouth.
"Uh, w-what did it say?"
"The document wasn't about you directly. It was about the person who dropped you off at the orphanage. Turns out, it was a Shield agent."
Wait what?
"A Shield agent? Why? I mean, who?" I ask confused. "What does that mean?"
"The agent was unidentified. We don't know if she was your mother or if she just found you on a doorstep." Coulson says reaching for my hand. I don't react.
It was a lady.
A small smile spreads across my lips as I consider the possibilities.
"Mother? It was a woman?"
Coulson nods and squeezes my hand.
"I put in a request to dig further into the files for any related materials, but right now, that's all I have." He swallows. "I'm sorry." He adds.
I stare at him in shock.
"Sorry?" I breathe. "Thank you. Thank you so much!"
I hug him, I can't stop smiling despite the tears streaming down my face.
