"There is nothing more unsettling, being a part of something so horrible, completely unaware." Simmons tells Fitz as he pours coffee into a mug.

I stroll over to him and snatch the dear caffeine away from him.

"Thank you." I tell him as he opens his mouth to protest.

"The Cadet could have died." Simmons continues in a hushed voice.

I open the fridge, searching for the creamer. Sometimes I'd drink it black, mostly just to annoy Simmons. Not today though.

"We drew up those concepts years ago. We didn't know they'd be applied in that way." Fitz recalls repouring a new cup of coffee.

"Shit." I mumble as I close the fridge. Ward, Fitz, and Simmons look up at me.

"It seems like it was planted in the filter days before, like someone was waiting for those specific Cadets." Ward explains.

"Well, as far as they can tell, the device uses a crystalline nucleation process Simmons designed." Fitz says frowning at Simmons.

"And a delivery mechanism he invented." Simmons bites back.

"That's why we're being asked to consult on the investigation." Ward explains giving Fitz and Simmons the 'look'.

"So we're going to the Academy?" I ask perking up.

"Science and technology division anyway." Ward says closing his tablet. "Cadets are pretty shaken up over what happened. Agent Weaver asked if you two could speak to the student body about potentiality to calm them down."

Fitz nervously shifts the mug in his hand and gazes out the plane window.

"Of course." Simmons says with a forced smile. "The talk."
