Allie's POV.

12 years old:

"Mom, come on we need to get you into bed." I tug helplessly at her hand, trying to no avail to move her drunken form.

I need to move her before dad gets home or... CRASH

"Morine, get up you lazy bitch I'm hungry." He stalked over and kicked her in the ribs.

She cried out and curled onto her side, holding onto her aching ribs and whimpering.

"DAD NO!" I threw myself in front of her shriveled figure, already regretting my words.

His face was expressionless as he looked down on my too small form, and smiled cruelly.

His hand snapped forward and tangled itself into my hair.

I screamed as he used his hold on my hair to wrench me up into the air. I made a mistake, I shouldn't have interfered, God this HURT.

He dragged me towards my room, nothing more than a large closet really, and threw me onto the floor.

I caught a flash of green and threw my arms out to soften my fall.

Shattered glass.

It shredded the skin on my palms and forearms, painting the already disgusting carpet, a grisly scarlet.

I sat there in shock as the green glass shards stuck out among the red river of my blood.

I don't remember when I started running, but suddenly I was on the roof of my housing complex, staring down at the cars parked far bellow.

Do it, you know you ought to.

I cocked my head to the side to better hear the voice, it sounded like dad.

Strange, his voice was never in my head before.

I leaned forward ever so slightly, arms spread to feel the wind against my wounds, and closed my eyes.

An arm wound around my waist and yanked me back onto the roof. making me aware of the pain coursing up from my arms like burning arrows.

I let out a pained shriek and my savior immediately let go.

I spun to face my savior and saw that it was a guy barely older than myself, tall and gangly, staring at me angrily.

I braced myself, waiting for him to explode into violence.

He let out a shuddering breath and raised his palms signaling he wanted peace.

"May I look at your arms? I don't want them to become infected, or you to bleed out."

He eased towards me and gently turned my cuts towards him, hissing at the all the glass glinting in my arms.

he shook his head and looped his arm around my waist.

"Come on, I've got bandages and vodka, we'll get you taken care of."

He nudged me onward and we slowly started to head to his apartment.

"I don't even know you." I whispered, glancing up towards his face.

He gave me a wide smile, "Call my Jay, imma be your best friend, I can just tell."
