A/N Asher everybody!!!

Lula's POV

I could feel my heart stop and twist sharply. They were right there, and I was not prepared for this. They moved to stand and panic shot through my limbs, I turned and fled the café.

How could he betray me like this? I thought we were family, but really, when has my family ever done anything good for me?

I couldn't hear their approach over the sound of my broken heart thrumming in my ears. arms encircled me and lifted me off the ground; effectively stopping me.

"Baby, please listen to us, we just want to talk." Asher's voice held a heavy southern accent.

I went limp in his arms, squeezing my eyes shut as I felt Harlan come to stand before me. I forced away the thought that Asher's arms felt nice, really nice, and tried to focus on a plan of escape.

"We've been looking for you for so long honey. Just come back to the café and we can talk about this, okay? just nod and Asher will put you down and we can all walk back." His accent was a thick creole drawl.

Bingo!

I nodded slowly and cracked my eyes open enough to see. When I felt the ground beneath my feet and Asher's arms release me I enacted my plan.

I stomped on Asher's instep, whirling around I then proceeded to knee him in the jewels. I felt Harlan step up behind me and I smashed my elbow into his gut.

That's gonna bruise.

I dodged around the winded Harlan and sprinted down the street. I almost made it to the apartment building when a girl stepped out of a shop and right into my path.

I didn't have enough time to even slow down, so ended up crashing into her full force.

"Fucking hell! Geeet ooooffffff." She groaned, struggling to get out from beneath me. I groaned and sat up, wincing at the bruises I could feel blooming on my ribs from the girl's elbows banging into them.

"I'm so sorry, I was running from these two guys and didn't see you, I'm so sorry." My voice came out breathy as I tried to control my breathing.

"Lula?" The girl asked.

I looked up and was greeted by Missy's confused gaze. Before I could say anything I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. My fear must've been clear in my eyes cause Missy took one look at me and stood, taking a defensive stance in front of me.

"Yo fuckfaces, leave my girl alone." She growled, raising her tiny fists and baring her teeth.

Asher and Harlan stopped a few feet away from her and looked at her rather skeptically.

"Alright shorty, we don't want to hurt her, we just wanna talk." Asher approached, hands raised to show he meant no harm. I really wanted to warn him, but he kinda deserved what was about to happen.

"Did, did you just call me shorty?" Her voice was quiet and cold.

Asher realized his mistake too late.

"ANCIENT SECRET MINI ART: NUTCRACKER!" She followed her exclamation by firmly lodging her foot into his jewels.

It must've had some real power behind it because Asher dropped like a sack of flour. Harlan was frozen, staring wide-eyed at Asher and covering his own manhood.

"LETS GO!" Missy yanked me off the ground and darted down an alley a few feet away. I tried keeping pace with her, but damn that girl could move.

"Where are we going?" I shouted, dodging and swerving around other pedestrians on the sidewalks.

She just tossed me a smile over her shoulder and continued making her way into the more residential area of the city. Little houses and small brownstones dotted the streets, and the air was filled with the smell of food.

She finally stopped in front of a small, lime green house. It was only one story and there appeared to be a thriving garden to the side of the house.

She marched up to the front door and threw it open with gusto. "HONEY, IM HOOOME!" she bellowed. Her statement was met by the click of nails on wood and a large brown blob charging at her.

The blob tackled her to the ground and resolved itself into an overexcited brown pit bull. Its whole body seemed to vibrate with happiness as it drowned its owner in kisses.

"Roxy baby, who's a good girl? you're a good girl!" Missy cooed, pushing the pit off and standing. "C'mon, you'll be safe here." she waved her hand for me to follow and waltzed into the house, swaying her hips to the sound of salsa music that was floating through the house.

Roxy sniffed at my hand and boofed at me before following the girl into the house. I looked back at the bustling streets and shrugged. At least they wouldn't think to find me here.

I stepped into the home and closed the door softly behind me.
