Rolands POV

I am so screwed

I thought as I stood in front of my childhood home, a rather imposing townhouse that sat at the edge of the college campus. A solid four stories high, made mostly of red brick but trimmed with white and gold. It was a beautiful piece of architecture to be sure, but it brought back bitter memories.

I walk up the steps, not bothering with knocking, and passed through the large oak doors.

"Mother? Father?" I called, kicking off my shoes and striding towards the kitchen. "Here." They chorused, sounding as if they were in the dining room. I changed course and headed that way, each step making the dread in my stomach grow faster and faster.

As I entered they turned towards me, seemingly in the middle of their meal. Even sitting my father was an imposing man, built like a bear with the voice and attitude to match, he sat beside a rather petite woman. Both were quite beautiful for their age, and made good use of their looks to further their careers by fooling their opponents into believing they were naïve.

This is going to be hell

I settle myself into the seat to the right of my father, folding my hands atop the table and straightening my posture, I meant business.

I clear my throat and begin. "Mother, Father. I have important news." Before I could continue my mother clapped her hands in happiness and my father seemed smug.

"Oh my dear, what a lovely surprise! Who is she? I bet she's absolutely beautiful. Of course she would be with blue eyes. What's her name?" She continued to ramble while I grew continuously more uncomfortable.

"Well actually, his name is Damian..." I muttered, blushing furiously.

Silence met my words, and for a miniscule moment I thought they'd take it better.

They didn't.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HIS NAME?" Roared my father.

"Oh god, I'll never have grandchildren!" My mother wailed.

Together the noise was terrible, even worse than when Sophia came out as asexual, and I just couldn't take it.

"You know what? FUCK IT! I'm not going to sit here and let you tell me I'm wrong for something I didn't choose! You don't even know him! HELL I DON'T EVEN REALLY KNOW HIM! But I'm going to try, maybe you'll think so to, someday. But until then I'm not coming home. Goodbye, and adoption is always an option."

With that I stormed out of the house, forgetting my shoes in the process. Halfway to Sophias and my feet were burning and my temper had cooled.

At least Sophia would approve

I snorted and turned a corner, and spotted a rather small person trying to control a somewhat large pitbull. I stepped forward ready to offer my assistance, and realized it was Damian who was trying to control the energetic pit. I laughed and it drew their attention, and in what I assumed was shock, he dropped the leash. The pit came barreling towards me, I widened my stance and braced for impact.

I was not disappointed.

It hit me squarely in the chest, and we crashed to the ground. It's tail whipped back and forth as it attacked my face with slobbery kisses.

"NO PRINCESS MONSTER TRUCK! GET OFF HIM YOU BRUTE!" Damian hollered, trotting up to reclaim the dropped leash.

I burst into laughter as he stands above me, looking murderous. "What? Got an issue with her name?" He huffed glaring at me.

I shake my head and push myself up, brushing off my jeans and blushing.

Damn I'm doing that alot

We stand there awkwardly for a few seconds.

"Sooooo, wanna tell me why your running around with no shoes?" He asks, waving his hand through the air.

I rub the back of my neck and shrug.

"Well, I got sent to talk to the parents, to tell them about you, and it didn't end well. So I kinda got pissed and yelled at them and now I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to stay in my place cause they own that, and I ran out of there without my shoes. So yeah, how are you?" I tried to move off the topic, but it didn't seem to work.

He stood there thoughtful for a moment and snapped his fingers.

"You can stay with me, I have extra rooms and you won't really have to see me all that much. You could pay for groceries as rent. If that's fine with you?" He fidgeted nervously with the leash, I looked up at me through his eyelashes.

Damn you're cute, how could I say no?

My face stretched into a grin and I nodded. He smiled excitedly, telling me to follow him.

But something he said bothered me.

you won't really have to see me all that much

Oh Damian, have I hurt you that much? I promise that from now on I won't hurt you! You are my soulmate and I will treat you as such!

I nodded to myself, and followed his lead.

This could be fun
