I was the first up the porch and through the house to the back door. I hurried out when my wife was holding Annabeth rocking her, doing something to keep her awake. I saw the fire extinguisher by her side and the snake was dead. I came up behind my wife as she sniffled and wiped her face against her sleeve smearing her makeup.
"It's okay." I say, "Let me see her."
"Okay.." She said not arguing. It was bad, it was swelling and the likes.
"Baker! Chad! Get the aid kit! And O2" Our two medics called to the other two.
I sat on the porch with her in my lap holding the oxygen mask to her small face.
"Annabeth, honey..Anna honey you have got to do your best to stay with me okay??" I say as they took her arms and held them in akward positions as the other placed the suction pen on her leg.
"Anna honey??" I say lightly touching her cheek, "Annabeth sweetheart??"
"Rampart patient is unconscious, snake bite. We applied oxygen and the suction pen." Derek said.
'Squad 52, bring her in asap.'
"10-4 Rampart." Derek answered and turned it off as we heard the sirens of the ambulance.
I didn't want to let her out of my sight but, I had to. And then hope and pray that she'd be okay.
"You coming?" Derek asked in the ambulance.
"Sure." I answer as I helped my wife get into the front and then I climbed in the back with Derek and the Emt.
