The divorce with my parents won't make any of this easier on us, I have a feeling.
My mom came into the waiting room with my dad following a few spaces between them. When they saw us they smiled together. I knew the act, it was just to keep us from worrying about them both.
"Dad," I say, "Mom."
"How is she?" My mom asked about her little angel.
"Still hasn't reacted to the antivenom yet." I say, "She has a good few hours before it becomes critical."
My mom nodded sitting down beside me as I watched my dad leaning on the wall watching the doctors.
"Stoker's are fighters Mike. She'll be fine." My mom said shocking me. Usually my dad would give me that type of advice.
I wonder what really is going on..
"Madeline, let the poor boy think for himself." My father growled seeing how she was trying to comfort me in any way possible. I looked at my wife and mom.
"Why don't you and Aly get a cup of coffee, you need a break from the lull." I say.
"Sounds like a good idea." My mom said willingly. She went to tell my wife as I stood up stretching and yawned clearing my throat. I waited till they were out of sight.
"What's your problem?!" I say, "Your granddaughter is deathly ill and your still hungover about mom accepting the divorce..This isn't the time or place to berate her about caring for someone other than you."
He looked dead at me venom in my words meaning every bit of what I said.
"You watch how you talk to me, boy." He said.
"I'm dependent on myself and my family, I am my own person. I am an adult father, not the little boy you'd occasionally slap around anymore." I snarled fidgeting.
"I said that to my father once but you know what? That made me just as bad as him because in the end Mike, son, if given the chance you'd leave, just like you did to Annabeth and your wife all those years
ago you just don't know it yet." My father said hitting a nerve.
"That has nothing to do with you slapping around my mother!!" I exclaimed my face burning with anger.
"No, you see it's just as
bad." He said.
"I won't be swayed by you! I atleast came back admitting everything and attempted to make up for lost time." I say as I saw he was about to say something, "Uh-uh, this isn't debateable anymore."
I walked to the vending machine down the hall.
I won't let my father scare me into being just like him..Never.
I slammed my hand lightly against the wall leaning closing my eyes for a few minutes to let me cool off.
