Chinami came into class without a smile on her face. She sat on her seat and started to take her stuff out of it. Usually, she would be greeting Zaizen with a 'good morning' but that was in the past now.
Zaizen changed the song from his phone before looking at Chinami once. He can see she looked even worse than yesterday; the dark circles looked very bad...
'Is she stopping herself from sleeping?' Zaizen wanted to speak to her but he couldn't put his personal pride aside. He decided to look away from her the moment she looked his way.
'He hates me...' Chinami tiredly looked away, tired of everything. The day should just end already...
"This is bad, she is refusing to sleep. How many days has it been?" Shiraishi was getting very stressed; Chinami has been preventing herself from going to sleep and she refused to tell them why that was the case.
"Didn't she say she's having nightmares?" Kenya asked him, "She's probably avoiding them no matter what. What should we do? Slip a sleeping pill into her food and drink?"
"You know we can't do that."
"We can't have her not going to sleep. Why is it getting worse?" Kenya was showing signs of stress too.
They hid their stress for her sake; no one wanted her to feel worse than she already was. "We should give it some time. No matter what, she is Chinami! I believe in her." Even at difficult times, Kenya still believed in Chinami.
Shiraishi smiled at Kenya and they bumped fists, agreeing that she will definitely be okay.
However, that was nothing but mere hope...
Days and nights went back and forth, nothing was improving...
The more they hoped for her to be okay, the worser it got. Chinami has resorted to taking only a few hours worth of sleep a day, always having an alarm close to her no matter what. The boys removed the alarm from her in secret at times but it only triggered her getting enough time for bad dreams to haunt her. Whenever her bad dreams occur, she always screamed and cried for Kenya to rescue her.
Kenya went to the kitchen in the middle of the night to see Shiraishi already there.
"Hey, uh...Chinami just settled down now."
"Why always you?" Shiraishi noticed Chinami always called for Kenya. She would always look for Kenya, be it because of her nightmares or if he's gone for too long. "She sees only you..." Nowadays, all of Chinami's focus went to Kenya only. Has she completely erased everyone but Kenya from her world?
"I really think she should see a psychiatrist. I talked to her about it but she kept begging me not to do that..." Kenya said to him with worry, "I don't know what to do..."
"I think it should be a last resort." Chitose came into the kitchen to overhear them talking about Chinami's situation. "Ever since Zaizen left...she has been a bit possessive." Chitose could tell something was wrong ever since she kept asking for Kenya's whereabouts. "Kenya, I think you always being by her side is indirectly making it worsen. Haven't you noticed she has somehow conditioned herself that she will panic if you're gone for too long?"
"Of course I noticed...but what can I do? I can't have her panicking!"
"But you can't keep spoiling that behaviour either." Kenya knew Chitose was right. Chitose didn't want to sound harsh but with things going as they were, Chinami's sanity will become thinner and thinner...
