Trying Times

Something Troubling

A month went by, and even though they weren't trying persay for a baby, they were planning their wedding. They had a date set, Star and her were leaving to dress shop, Beast Boy was in charge of the food. Cyborg would do the cooking and Bee was in charged of the decorations. Light and modest, they didn't want a big wedding. Just a simple one backyard barbecue style party with their friends.

Screams could be heard from Raven's bathroom. Only Starfire was home at the time and she came rushing in crying out for Raven.
"Star in here! " came a voice in the well lite bathroom
"Friend Raven what is the wrong?!"
"Star! Oh Azath! Star look!"
Showing the stick, Raven was holding a positive pregnancy test.
"Friend Raven you are with the child! What wondrous of the news!!"
"But..but we are planning our wedding!"
"And now we can plan the shower of the baby as well friend Raven!"
"Oh Azath! What will Beast Boy say?"
"He should be the happiest of this occasion"
"Ugh Star, guess I should call a doctor."
"And get the picture of the little baby? Oh how wondrous!"
Calling the family doctor, Raven got the next available appointment in 2 weeks. The doctor had asked her about her last period and based that she may be about 6 weeks along. He then asked her about any problems or any questions before her appointment. The doctor knew she is a Titan and said that she could still fight, since as a superhero, the baby will be shielded in the safety of her womb.
Arriving about early afternoon, the boys came home from grocery shopping and having the 'Boy time' as they called it. Cyborg went off into his room to charge and call Bee. Robin and Starfire went to work out in their in home gym, while Beast Boy and Raven sat on the couch watching some murder show. Her hands feeling cool to the touch and clammy, she was nervous about telling him. She knew in her heart they both wanted to be parents, but this was all too soon. Sighing she turned to him, he glanced over
"Gar we gotta talk"
"Anything wrong my love?"
"Remember at the beach when we talked about becoming parents?"
"Yea! Why? Do you wanna go in the bedroom?" He grinned raising an eyebrow.
"Well.. see.. I.."
Getting up from the couch. Beast Boy was rooting in the fridge. .
"Duuude, are you telling me we are?"
"Depending on your definition of 'are'"
"We are out of ketchup!"
"Garfield!"
"Raven?!"
"I'm trying to tell you something.. important!"
"That you are?"
"I'm pre-"
"etty horny? Murder shows make you that I know." He laughed again.
Getting upset and done with the mind game, Raven gets up from the couch and walks over to Beast Boy.
"Beast Boy" she stared right into his eyes
"I am pregnant"
Dropping the carton of Soy milk, he looked at his angered fiancé. Sadly he apologized and said he knew. She questioned him with a look and he explained.
"Well with animal instinct, I can smell things like your arousal, when your friend comes to visit, your emotions and this. I didn't know the new scent I had been picking up around you lately. When we got back, I had went to use the bathroom and saw the test. He chuckled softly. Adding he goes
"I'm nervous I won't lie, but the excitement is there I promise you."
He patted her still slender stomach and softly spoke to her womb
"Hi in there! It's me. Your superhero dad!"
Maybe this was meant to be as they got comfy on the couch, together, finishing up the show. Hand in hand, Raven smiled and leaned on Beast Boy's shoulder.
A couple weeks it was the appointment date and during the visit the team got to see the sonogram of the little blob.
Beast Boy was humming happily as he was holding the picture of Raven's womb and the little white area which is the blob with stubs and a heartbeat.
"Ooo what is that?" Star gazed at the picture.
"Star that's the baby." Robin explained.
"But it isn't the shape of the human."
"It will form into a baby Star."
"Ohh.. this is the news to me."
Walking out of Doctor Shield's office, Raven explained to her best friend about babies, Starfire was excited the most at hearing the heartbeat with the gang, while Beast Boy and Robin talked logic.
"Raven can't fight anymore."
"But the doctor said it was fine" Raven began to protest.
"Raven for the sake of our baby and you, please listen to Robin. I don't want to lose you nor our blob. "
"Beast Boy is right. Which is a first, but still. Your safety and the unborn child's safety is at risk, so you're on Tower duty."
"Meaning I stay home and sit here and take care of things right?"
"Nesting really." Robin tried to make it sound better.
"Well I can't argue with you all. So fine. I'll stay. Even if I don't want to. I will. For the baby though. "
That night the team went out to the local pizza joint. Celebration was in order for the baby news. Bee and Cy, Robin and Star and Beast Boy and Raven all gathered around the 3 large pies. Eating, talking, and friendly gathering was in order.
"Any names?" Bee asked happily
"We just found out " Beast Boy started
"I want to name my daughter Leilah which means 'night beauty'." Raven spoke up.
"And if it's a boy?"
"Well Beast Boy what would you name your son?" Bee eyed over her slice of pizza.
"Well... I never thought of any names.. Maybe after my dad? Maybe something else. I'm not too sure really." He replied.
Bee smiled. Cyborg spoke up
"After your father would be a great tribute. I'm surprised Raven didn't want to name her daughter after her mother."
"Mom would be proud, yet honored, but I wanted something unique." Raven said.
Quietly Beast Boy ate his pizza and thought about baby names. If he had a son, what would he name him.
Well my father's name was Mark Logan. So maybe Mark? Marc with a 'c'? Marco? Wait.. Marco? What the... I like gorillas but wouldn't name him that. Dillion? He liked lions. Dillon is a strong name. Maybe that. I'll run some by Raven later.. Maybe she can help me think of some-"
"Friend Beast Boy are you the alright?" Starfire questioned her friend. The Titans had gathered up their trash already and were ready to leave. Raven was talking to Bee and Cyborg by the door. Robin was cleaning up the table while his wife was trying to get Beast Boy to snap out of his trance.
"Yea. Sorry I was thinking of names" He grinned his toothy grin. He gathered up his trash and placed it in the can and headed towards the door. He sniffed at the air and it felt heavy. He grabbed Raven's hand, pulled her to the side.
"Rae." he spoke quietly.
"What is it Gar?" She answered in same hush tone.
"I'm worried. I have this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach."
"Gar it may be just your nerves. You want to go back to the tower or go watch a movie with the gang?"
"Can we go for a walk by the bay instead? Maybe a walk will do me good."
"Of course Gar, you want me to get the leash?" she tried to tease.
He smiled and said "Couldn't hurt."
