John's eyes suddenly shot open after being disturbed by the infernal bleeping of his alarm clock. He sighed and groggily and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, cursing himself for setting his alarm unnecessarily early. The pale haired boy lazily slung his legs over the edge of his bed and looked over at his roommate. Sherlock was lying on top of his bed, covers unmoved from where they had been initially put by the staff, staring intently at the ceiling.
"Did you sleep?" John questioned noticing Sherlock hadn't changed out of yesterday's clothes.
"No. Now shout up." Sherlock replied bluntly. John simple rolled his eyes and continued to pester the taller boy.
"What the hell are you doing?" He asked.
"Thinking about the case, shh."
"Case? What case? Wait do you mean Zoey?"
"Yes of course I mean Zoey, now are you going to keep annoying me or go and get dressed?" He spat bitterly, his eyes remaining in the same spot.
John paused for a moment, thinking through his answer. "Let me help. What do you think has happened?" John questioned.
At this Sherlock sat up and turned to face his roommate. He looked him up and down, wondering why John was so desperate to help and finally replied; "Fine." He stated. "It was obviously murder, no doubt about it. The girl you spoke to told you she found Zoey in a position that looked like she was crying. The cause of injury was undoubtable; the blow to the back of the head, therefor, the only way she could have sustained that injury and ended in that position by accident is if she hit her head on the wall behind her so hard, she rebounded off it and somehow manage to land her arms and head in the correct position, all without leaving a mark on the wall behind, no someone hit her and placed her like that. Now if this was the case, who would do that? It could have been a student who got into a fight with her, Zoey hit her head and in a panic the student made it look like Zoey was crying to buy themselves more time, however, that can't have happened because of her hair-"
"-her hair?"
"Yes John keep up! Her hair, a fight would have dishevelled her hair but her hair was fine, this leads me to believe it was professional. Either the killer walked up to her, quickly hit her over the head with a blunt instrument, avoiding a struggle, and put her in the crying pose."
"That would mean he, or she, came in there with a weapon with full intent off what to do, how hard he needed to hit and where, all relatively quickly." John added, refraining from commenting on how amazing it was Sherlock could figure this all out.
"Exactly. And even if Zoey did see the killer and tried to fight, that would mean the killer had time to clean up, though he had no intention of being discreet about his kill, no. Instead of hiding Zoey's body somewhere he left her in plain sight, to cause a scene, to put people on edge, the only question is why? Why would you want to kill Zoey Proasheck, she was only a teenager? And, if what I'm suggesting is correct, why hire someone to kill her?"
"Maybe as a message, a warning. Like you said, they made it obvious; they wanted the body to be found."
"Correct my dear Watson, this is why we must go and collect more information however, considering that Zoey was friends with Kim, it might be easier said than done."
"Why?"
"After Kim came to talk to us I took note of where she was sitting; a very, very large group of people. I already said its likely Kim was bullied and could have social anxiety except when kindness is shown and she knows that the people around her won't hurt her. Kim automatically relaxed when she reached her table, therefor we can conclude Kim's and Zoey's friendship group is significantly larger than just two people could talk to. We need more people."
