Day 12: Hospital Time

"Leilani, you ok?"

I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was in a hospital bed...with Odell by my side.

"Nurse! She's up!" He yelled. He took my hand but I snatched it away.

"Get away from me." I said to him. He had this confused look on his face. The nurse suddenly walks in.

"Hello Mrs.Grove." I looked at her. "Can you remember anything?" She asked me.

I lied and shook my head. "What day is it?" I asked her. "December 12th." I nodded my head.

"I'm so glad that you woke up."

"Why are you here?" I asked Odell after he finished his sentence. "I was worried about you Leilani."

"Bullshit." I said. "Call the police. This man should be in jail." I said to the nurse.

"Leilani what the hell!?"

"Go to hell, Odell Beckham."

I tried to get out the bed but I was too weak. "Leilani, what's wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're a rapist and abuser, I saw them lock you up. Why they let you go?" I said.

Odell put his hands over his face and paced back and forth. He knew he'd fucked up.

"Leilani...how you see me get locked up if you was blacked out for 2 days?"

"Because Odell, I saw the-Wait...what?" I was so confused.

"Leilani, at the restaurant, when you was coming back from the restroom, one of the waiters saw you unconscious on the floor. We immediately rushed you to the hospital, because of lack of medicine, you went into a coma. You was out cold for 2 straight days."

I didn't remember any of that. The nurse came back in with security guards.

"That's him." She points at Odell. "No! No!" Odell yells as he tried to hide under the bed.

"Nurse, there was a miscommunication. It's not true, it was a dream. Please forgive me." I pleaded. She rolled her eyes.

"Don't let it happen again." I nodded my head. They walked out the room.

Odell crawls from under the bed. "Why would you even dream about some shit like that?" I shrugged.

"About to get me locked up."

"I'm sorry, I thought it wasn't a dream, because at the end I blacked out too." I said to him.

The main doctor came in my room. His face expression was the same expression as the doctor at home, when he told me that I had 31 days.

"Leilani Grove?" He asks. He walks up to me."The last thing I want to hear is,'There's nothing you can do' because I know that." I told him.

He deeply sighed. "Leilani, since you haven't took your medicine in so long, it might affect your life span." I looked down and fiddled with my fingers.

"What do you mean?" Odell asked.

"The medicine she was on, helped her get stronger. It wasn't helping her cure her disease, but it was helping with some of the effects." I nodded my head.

"Therefore, you have about 10 more days." I nodded my head again. "Thanks." I smiled at him. He walks out the room.

I looked over at Odell, he had tears coming down his face. "Odell, don't cry please."

"Don't you ever just wish that you can change it all? Wish that you never had cancer anymore?" Odell sniffs and wipes his face.

I shook my head and flash a small smile. "No."

He put his hands over his face. "Why?"

"I know cancer isn't the best thing in life, but it also isn't the worst. If I had 1 wish, and wished that I never had cancer, sure things would be great. But if I wished, that I never had cancer, that's means I would've never met you, and right now Odell your the best thing that ever happened to me." Tears flow down my face.

He sits on my bed and he holds me. He takes his thumbs and wipes my tears away then kisses me.

"And if I had 1 wish...I would wish that I can stay with you forever." I said to him and he smiled.

"Forever and Ever babe."
