Day 14: Family Ties (Pt.2)

Leilani' Diary Entry: Today, has been the first time in years since Odell saw his family. We both was very nervous. The main thing I was worried about was them not liking me. I don't have to worry anymore because they love me. Tomorrow afternoon, we're going out to the carnival. It's a great time to go and spend some time with his family. I just want him to have fun.

December 14, 2015

"So, what y'all want to do first?" We was now at the carnival and we was figuring out what to do first. "Let's save best for last!" Jasmine said.

"Ok fine, we'll all meet up back here at 5:00 to get something to eat." Mrs. Heather said.

Jasmine ran off and Karavah follow, Mrs. Teresa went to the boardwalk, and Mr.James and Mrs. Heather say on the bench.

Odell grabbed my hand. "We got 5 hours. What do you want to do?" Odell asked.

"Lets go on that roller coaster first." I said as I pointed to it.

"Nah, I'm good." Odell said. "Are you scared?"

He looked at me. "No. I just don't like Roller coaster." I shook my head as we finished walking.

We walked up to a game booth. "I'm gonna win you a giant teddy bear." Odell said to me. "I'm good, a small on is good."

He opened up his wallet and gave the man a 5 dollar bill. "Trying to win your lady a prize?" The guy asked. Odell nodded his head.

"Odell really, it's ok." It's been an hour and Odell spent half of his money on this game. He said that he's not giving up until he wins me a bear.

"No Leilani. I want you to get one." I shook my head. After about 5 more tries, he finally won.

"Thanks Odell for this."

"No problem baby. I told you I was gonna win you a bear." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

Time flew past fast and it was already 5:00. The boardwalk didn't close until 10:30 so we still had time.

We walked back to the meeting spot. "There you go, we can go to this restaurant down the boardwalk. It's really nice."

We all agreed to go. "You guys, go ahead. I want to speak to Odell for a minute." Mrs. Heather said.

I nodded my head as Odell let go of my hand.

Odell

"So...I've see you spending a lot of time with Leilani." My mom told me. I nodded my head. "Yea, that's because I love her."

"Do you really, Odell?" I looked at her. "What do you mean?" I asked her.

"I mean...do you really understand what love is at this age?"

"This age? Ma I'm grown. I know what love is." I told her.

"Really? So what's the definition of love?" She asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. I wasn't about to argue with her.

"I don't know, ma. Can we please go in and eat? I'm hungry."

"Odell, I'm just saying. I think your taking this too fast. You did just meet her 2 weeks ago."

"And I'm happy I met her 2 weeks ago."

"But-" I cut her off. "But nothing. I love her. I don't care if I met her yesterday. God sent me to her for a reason."

I left my mother outside with her being speechless. I walked into the restaurant and sat next to Leilani. My mom just made me mad and I wasn't in the mood now.

All throughout dinner, me and my mom made no eye contact.

I barely talked, this dinner. I just wanted to go home. After dinner is was around 7:30, they decided to have more fun but, me and Leilani decided to go home.

"Odell tell me what's wrong?" Leilani begged as we was in bed. "My
Mother. That's what's wrong."

"What she do?"

"She just told me all this shit about...how I love you when I just met you. I'm too young to know what love is. Typical Heather shit." She just shook her head.

"Do you really love me?" Leilani asked. "Of course I love you. Nothing gonna get in the way of us."

She smiled and I kissed her. She got up and left the room. I wasn't gonna let my mom say all that crazy shit to me. I loved Leilani, even if she didn't think so. It's not about what she think. Her opinion doesn't matter to me.
