Shikamaru x reader

A certain kunoichi walked through the leaf village happily. Her forehead protector was proudly wrapped around her left arm. She smiled and searched for a particular shinobi, whom she was dying to share the great news with. After ten minutes, she finally found him under a huge tree that provided a great amount of shade. Her heart skipped a beat and she quietly walked towards him. He lied perfectly still and he focused on the sky above him. She was planning to startle him, but suddenly...she couldn't move. She sighed and closed her eyes, "you caught me." she admitted defeat. She knew he was smirking, he coughed a little and smiled at her. "The wind is blowing straight towards me and you always use a scented shampoo. I caught the scent and found you with the Shadow Possession Jutsu." Shikamaru explained with a sigh. She giggled and smiled at the boy. "You have 5 minuets left with this jutsu. I can tell because of how weak it looks. Did you train before I got here?" (Y/N) asked. He nodded and released the jutsu. He lied down under the tree again and waited for his favorite female friend to join him. He loved the fact that no matter how boring he is, she always happily joined him in his favorite activities.

Shikamaru's P.O.V.

Man, of all the girls I could fall for...it has to be the most prettiest one. I always said I wanted to marry someone who wasn't too pretty or too ugly. Yet, here I am...falling for the soon-to-be heiress of the (L/N) clan. The clan who specializes in poison and antidotes. Why do I have to be so lame? All the girls swoon over Sasuke, but I can't figure out what makes him so special. Does (Y/N) like Sasuke too? Oh man, what a drag. I'm starting to worry now.

Should I ask her? No, it's too risky. She's extremely smart and would easily figure out why I asked. I need to know, so think Shikamaru, think! Maybe I could say it as a joke? Well, that does seem like the better plan. Okay, here it goes.

"So what brings you here today?" I casually asked while staring at the sky. The clouds were moving to the East, but I guess they're starting to drift to the North. "Ah, nothing. Just wanted to let my friend know that I promoted to Jonin." She explained casually. I nodded and smiled. Wait, Jonin!? I looked at her with disbelief and she shot me a smile.

"You seem so surprised." She stated while looking at my shocked expression. We're the same age and she's already a Jonin. Great, I'm being outdone by a girl. Not that it's a problem, it's just that...I wanted to prove to her how much of a great shinobi I could be. "Good job. I'm proud of you." I complimented and smiled at her. I need to start training more, so I could catch up and be able to protect her. I glanced to the right to see (Y/N) staring at Sasuke and his two biggest stalkers, Ino and Sakura. Now is my chance, I should go for it.

"Are you going to go follow Sasuke too?" I teased. Hopefully she doesn't catch on and realizes my feelings for her. She giggled and shook her head. "Sasuke is cool, but he's not so special. Plus, I'd rather be here with you." She explained with a closed eye smile. I felt my heart beat faster as a response to her words. I looked away to avoid my blush being noticeable. I smirked and looked at her. "Sasuke is cooler than I am, but yet you stay here." I pointed out. She blushed and nodded.

Your P.O.V.

"There's nothing really great about Sasuke. He's just another shinobi with issues. You're the only guy I really get along with Shika." I managed to say, while looking calm. Thank goodness he didn't notice the way I keep avoiding his gaze. I lied down next to Shikamaru and relaxed on the, surpisingly, comfortable grass.

I yawned and lied on my side, so I could face Shikamaru. "Shika? What are your goals for the future?" I asked. He glanced at me and looked at an oddly shaped cloud in the sky.

"I wanted to have a simple life. Marry a woman who isn't too pretty or too ugly. I would like her to be herself and not try to change her body to get approval for being thin. I want two kids, first a girl, then a boy. I'll retire when my daughter gets married and when my son becomes a successful ninja. Then, I'll just play shogi and die before my wife." He explained. I nodded and looked at the sky. "That's an awesome goal." I complimented. He grinned and faced towards me. "How about you?" He questioned.

"I never really thought about it. I would like to marry someone and have a son. I want my child to inherit my clan's well-known jutsu that only passes down to the males. Then my daughter can specialize in poisons and antidotes while inheriting her father's jutsu." I explained with a small smile.

"This is kind of a drag to say, but you're my favorite person to be around. I think about you almost all the time and it's so troublesome sometimes. I always said I wanted a girl who wasn't too pretty, but you're an exception. (Y/N), I love you. We're young and naïve, but I'm sure of it." Shikamaru said.

I blushed and my heart started to beat louder. I didn't know what to say or do. I stared at his face, in case he would break out in laughter and say it was a joke. I waited for at least five minutes. Until suddenly, Ino fell from the tree and landed on Shikamaru. "Oomph! Hey, what's the big idea!?!" Ino shouted to the tree.

Suddenly, Sakura and Naruto fell too. Shikamaru dusted himself off and stood up. "I'm guessing you all were spying on us, huh." Shikamaru said. They didn't listen because Ino was currently telling me to say something to Shikamaru. Naruto noticed Shikamaru's glare and shuddered. Sakura started to get nervous under his intense glare as well.

"H-Hey, Ino...Sakura..we should get going. Uh Kakashi-sensei said we needed to..um...get him a new mask! Come on let's go! Bye (Y/N) and Shikamaru!" Naruto said and ran away while holding Ino and Sakura's hand. I giggled a little and made eye contact with Shikamaru.

He put his hands in his pockets and sighed. I mustered up what little courage I had and quickly walked to Shikamaru. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him down to my level. I kissed him softly, I made sure I would make the passion obvious. My eyes were closed, but I'm sure his eyes were wide open with shock.

His lips were so soft and...lovely. I pulled away, "It seems I'm the one with guts. Hm. I know you're lazy, but I never took you as a coward." I taunted with a smirk. His eye twitched "I'll show you a coward." He growled and kissed me. He snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Everything was perfect. Click!

Shikamaru's P.O.V.

Click! That was the sound of a camera. Damn, who could it be? Whoever it is, I'm gonna wring their neck for ruining a perfect moment. I pulled away and immediately used the Shadow Possession Justsu. I caught the person and made them step out of the bushes. I looked up to see Kakashi. I chuckled and let him go. "I knew you were into weird books, but I didn't know you liked to spy on kids." I said. He widened his eye and a sweatdrop formed. "No, no. I took a picture because Asuma thought you wouldn't have the guts to make a move. So I got proof." Kakashi explained with a sheepish chuckle.

(Y/N) tried not to laugh, but she failed. She giggled at Kakashi's childish behaviour and shook her head. "You were always so weird sensei." She stated with a grin. Kakashi congratulated (Y/N) and gave me a slap on the back for making a move.

It was just us now, I was sure of it. I let myself fall to the ground and watched the sunset. The sky looked amazing. I grabbed (Y/N)'s hand and pulled her down next to me. "Now that you're a Jonin, I have to catch up. Request me for help on missions. Because I forgot to tell you that I made it to Chunin. I'm not far behind." I informed her and she smiled.

"Good job. I love you Shika." She cooed. I blushed and kissed her cheek. "What a drag. It's getting late and I don't want to move." I complained and yawned. "Don't worry. I'm a Jonin, you're a little Chunin. I'll carry you, Shika~" she teased. That's all it took and in a second, I carried her over my shoulder. I made my way to her house. "Troublesome woman." I mumbled and continued to walk. "But I'm your troublesome woman." She smiled. "Yeah, let's just hope our children aren't troublesome."
